How to run an effective meeting (in 10 easy steps): 1. Decide whether or not to host the meeting 2. Set an agenda in advance 3. Review your guest list 4. Start and end on time 5. Manage the time in between 6. Take notes throughout 7. Save time for questions 8. Conclude with action items 9. Reevaluate the effectiveness 10. Follow up with an email summary And yet... So many companies I worked for would have team meetings or 1:1s throughout the week, missing several of the above steps. Sometimes, I couldn't help but wonder, "What was the point of this meeting." It slows everyone down from doing the work they need to do for their job. The best part? Most of the critical takeaways/updates from the meeting could have been shared with the entire team via email. Erasing the need for the meeting in the first place. Yes, my friends. I don't miss Corporate.

Normalise longer meetings. One of the biggest reasons meeting suck, is there’s just not enough time to really focus on the challenge at hand. Longer meetings give you… 👉 More time to actually work during the meeting, not just chat. 👉 They mean you have less context switching throughout the day. 👉 And if you finish early, nobody minds getting time back. You don’t need fewer meetings, you need better meetings. So why not give longer sessions a try?

#meeting do you find them relevant or you find that waste of time or do you feel that I can do something important instead of hearing someone out of context ! Sharing some bullet points for your next meeting to be successful ! 1. Do we really need to meet everyone and convey ? 2. Is there a specific agenda ? 3. Stick to the agenda 4. Try to exclude people who are not a part of this agenda. 5. Try to plan meeting and avoid urgent meeting unless absolute necessary. 6. If its a 15 minute discussion don't extend it to 1 hour !! 7.
