I have a problem and I need your help... LinkedIn friends, my mentor has thrown down the gauntlet... I’ve been tasked with scheduling 30 powerful strategy sessions on how to benefit from operational excellence for business owners over the next 3 weeks. This is no small task! Leading a Room Requires Flexibility For leaders and entrepreneurs, flexibility is essential—especially during strategic planning sessions. Whether you’re in a room with familiar faces or seeing your team in Zoom squares, you control the energy, set expectations, and guide the conversation. Flexibility means engaging everyone—ensuring no one hides and no one dominates. Every voice has value, and my role as a facilitator is to make sure each team member feels empowered to contribute. Creating psychological safety is a top priority. People need to feel safe to have honest, crucial conversations and commit to action. My job is to foster a space where team members feel seen, heard, and valued—where they can show up with accountability. When trust is strong, teams align behind a vision with the focus and clarity needed to drive results. Recently, a client was amazed at how much we accomplished in a short time. By the end of our session, we had clear timelines and actionable goals that the entire team was excited to implement. Early planning like this gives businesses a runway, allowing teams to enter 2025 with purpose and momentum. As a facilitator, it’s never about ego; it’s about serving the leader and the group to keep them on track toward their goals. My role is to create the right conditions for success, driving focus and clarity so that teams can achieve their best work. Time to Think One of my favourite things to do is to take my clients out into nature, and create expansive thinking environments for them. Getting away from our desks and into nature has a huge impact on our ability to think clearly. Most of our best decisions are made away from the desk, so why do we spend our ‘thinking time’ looking at a screen. Get out in nature. Take a sparring partner. Have exploratory conversations. Embrace the silent moments - this is often where the best thinking is done. “Everything we do depends for its quality on the thinking we do first”. Great leaders and coaches know how to create safe ‘Thinking environments’ for their teams - environments that encourage their team to think better, for themselves, and in ways that will transform their results. It was great to catch up with old friend, ex-colleague, and now client, Luke Taylor - in such a beautiful environment.
