A quick post to celebrate these amazing people who recently completed Leaderful Action's sixth Talent Programme for Gwent Police. At their closing event we heard how their personal change challenges/projects had resulted in improved performance, significant savings and new ways of engaging colleagues. And maybe even more importantly how they now have the confidence and skills to lead themselves and others to continue making a positive impact. Hats off to you all!

Our standards are what set us apart. We have 12 of them, but why? 🤔 History tells us that in battle the standard bearer was a vital part of a soldier’s unit. More than simply a flag for people to follow, the standard symbolised the values, beliefs, and ideas the soldiers stood for; should the standard bearer fall it was paramount they were replaced. 🤝 At Grierson Dickens, our standards represent who we are and what we do and demonstrate the values on which GDL has been built. They are what all employees strive for each day, and this is something that continues in our new era as an Employee-Owned business. 👨💼 For the next 12 months, we will be featuring one standard each month, sharing why this standard is significant, and the value it brings to relationships that we build with clients, professional connections, and colleagues. More to follow next week... ✏

Ohtani... just another example of perennial winners paying up for top talent while perennial losers talk about how to draft potential. What do you focus on? Winning organizations fill thier remaining roster spots with potential. (A winning culture will draw talent). Struggling organizations fill those spots with journeyman. Business is all about building high performing teams.

As leaders it is important that we regularly celebrate the successes of and express appreciation to our team members. If they regularly hear about their opportunities but rarely hear about their accomplishments they will not remain engaged and we will potentially lose great people.

This video is incredibly important as showing the true effectiveness of friendship and kindness. It leads to productive conversations and changed minds. As Daryl Davis explains in this video, he has converted many KKK members and leaders over the years by simply hearing them out, talking with them, and being a good friend. This stuff changes the minds of people with legitimately immoral views. Many people with legitimately racist or bigoted views are hurt about something and use their views as cover. It usually comes down to a personal thing, and the best way to expose that and get them to change for the better is to fight fire with kindness and not fire with fire. Being hurtful towards someone with different views will only give said person more reason to hold their current views. https://lnkd.in/gHjADxy6
