Did you know that Disability Insurance policies usually offer less coverage for mental disabilities (such as #anxiety, #depression or #PTSD) than they offer for physical disabilities? Most disability insurance policies limit payments for mental impairments to 12 or 24 months, unlike physical conditions which can result in disability benefits being paid through age 67, or sometimes even longer. Legislators in Minnesota are looking to change that. HF 3836 is a proposed law that would require the same level of disability income benefit protection for mental disabilities as that provided for physical conditions under disability policies issued or offered in Minnesota.  #disabilityinsurance #disabilityincome #mentalhealth https://lnkd.in/d5ww23Hu

Lesson learned! Do not enter a tree throwing contest after you claim to be disabled! The next lesson is…talk to your dedicated Savoy Specialty AE about the nuances of disability policies. Let us take a look at your client’s current contract and ensure they have the right coverage in place. Our Impact Economics and Policy research on NDIS navigators has been released this morning! Navigators would make it much easier for people with disability to find supports and push service providers to deliver better quality. In the report we put forward 4 models to inform consultation on reforms. Finding ways to make market design work for people is one of the best parts of being an economist.
