Coaching can focus on achieving goals within a leader's current strategy or move in new directions. C-Suite and business owners experiencing rough patches can benefit from coaching to redirect thoughts and improve performance. Peers can challenge paradigms and existing thinking often leading to revelations and new levels of accountability that may be elusive when trying to hold yourself accountable. Peer group can take a deep dive into issues from many different perspectives. Often bypassing symptoms to get to the real root cause.

In today's fast-paced and competitive business environment, executives and business owner's face numerous challenges. They are expected to lead with confidence, make critical decisions, and drive their organisations towards success. However, navigating this complex landscape can often be overwhelming. That's where executive coaching and peer group mentoring come into play. These powerful tools offer invaluable support, guidance, and growth opportunities that can propel executives and business owner's to new heights of success. In our monthly meetings, we will explore the benefits of executive coaching and peer group mentoring and how they can unlock an executive's full potential.

It can be tempting as an executive coach to give people answers if you're knowledgeable enough to do so – but that's not the best approach to mentoring. Effective mentors are more aware of their own biases and instead focus on helping their mentees discover solutions for themselves. It is more important for the mentee to discover a better understanding than be given the answer. The qualities of the right mentor include learning how to guide your mentees in the right direction rather than solving all their problems for them. Ask questions, encourage them to explore different ideas, and share your experiences, but don't forget that ultimately it is up to the individual learner to find answers and make decisions on their own. The role of an Executive Coach is not to answer the question, but to question the answer.

Asks great questions: Remember that time when you were asked a great question that truly made you think? You can almost hear and see the light bulb go off. Examples might be: "What would you tell yourself five years ago?" or "When in your life have you felt most fulfilled?" Or “What does success look like in that situation?”. These types of questions aim to bring people to a deeper level of thinking, guiding them to areas of thought that are less common but can lead them to new insights and greater clarity. As a mentor, you should strive to be curious and ask meaningful questions that will lead your mentee on a journey of self-discovery. Be willing to explore different paths, the road less travelled in order to uncover new or hidden opportunities. The role of the Coach is as much about facilitating learning as it is about providing direct advice.

The role of an Executive Coach is not to answer the question, but to question the answer. Some of the ways I make the 121 experience a valuable experience: - a structured framework: a mix of directed specific questions and open ended to allow the thorns to show themselves. - challenge thinking. - provoke by asking questions and not just accepting a statement. - allow freewheeling outside the structure. - 121’s are great ways to ID issues and challenge the mentee to bring it to the group. - when you might feel like you are done, you ask one final question: Have we spoken about the most important thing today?
