In the course of my life and career as a hotelier and business leader, I have read so many management books, attended seminars & workshops etc. But I have never found greater Practical (with so much emphasis) advice and lessons spanning all industries in terms of leadership than David Freemantle's book SUPERBOSS! Published in 1987 it is still my managers bible as the truths in that book were very true and solid to anyone who wants to succeed as a leader. He wrote it at a time when our current HR managers were called Personell Managers (Indicating they had to manage workers). The world has evolved, and we came from Personell Managers to Human Resource Managers when we realized that these employees are not dispensable but are a resource which can contribute to the overall success of the company. As I write, the evolution is still going on. Today HR Managers are being called Talent Development Managers etc. I my opinion, I think we are getting to the realization that whatever the boards do, it will not happen without the team. The body is bigger than the head and it's the body that implements what the head has decided. Ponder about that as you seek to be a GREAT Leader.
