Honored to participate in the ‘100 najvećih u BiH i regionu - ESG Impuls 2024’ conference, celebrating the 100 greatest local businesses and their positive impact on our community. 🙏 While we should commend these businesses for their commitment to sustainability, corporate social responsibility, and governance, we must acknowledge that more needs to be done. Both locally and globally, we're falling short of the ambitious goals required to address the pressing environmental and social challenges of our time - which makes the theme of the conference all the more valuable. It’s dedicated to environmental, social and managerial sustainability, the latest ESG trends, innovations and practices shaping the future of business. Together with my peers, we’ll explore how to integrate ESG goals with business strategies for long-term success and positive social impact. For my part, I’ll be discussing how ESG can be the next big chapter in business development. The results of the first edition of the ESG report for the modern business services sector show that there is still much to be done in the field of sustainable business. ➡️ https://lnkd.in/dPYpTM9v Implementing ESG standards will not only increase the commercial competitiveness of companies but also strengthen their perception in the job market as preferred employers. In a study conducted at the Faculty of Political Science and International Studies at UW, as many as 75.2% of students and graduates indicated a company's commitment to implementing ESG principles as a significant or very significant element of EVP, when choosing a preferred employer. 53% of respondents considered (S)Social to be the most important for them❗   ESG is already present in Poland regardless of the processing of relevant implementing laws by the local parliament! 🌍 Recently in The Hague, corporates and Corporate Social Investors (CSIs) got together to explore the EU's Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). The focus was on harnessing CSRD to drive sustainability and impact investing while combating impact washing. 🗣️ Katrien Buys from Ageas Portugal ignited a vibrant discussion with her insights, sparking a lively exchange among attendees. Key takeaways included: 🌱 Double Materiality Assessment (DMA): - DMA uncovers new sustainability issues, shaping robust strategies for the future. - Some non-material sustainability matters may be deprioritized despite their importance. 📊 Impact Transparency Integrity: - Differentiating local vs. international DMA at the group-level reporting highlights unique local contexts. - Debate also centered around integrating CSI's positive impact into CSRD reports, exploring options such as inclusion in the value chain versus inclusion in group consolidated reports, to enhance transparency and accountability. 📈 CSRD and SMEs: - Challenges in data collection from SMEs in the value chain or group were addressed, including the new voluntary reporting standards tailored for non-listed SMEs by EFRAG. The consensus? Corporates emphasize the need for sharing best practices to effectively implement CSRD, ensuring transparency and avoiding impact washing. Another paperwork similar to GDPR few years ago? This is how I started part of my Librum lecture like part of SCHREIBER group team on last Friday’s workshop at KPMG in Slovakia. Incomming ESG changes should be not only about collecting data, reporting and tons of paperwork. It could be part of your company identity and your employer branding. It is strategy how you can be recognized, how you can take care about your employers, keep the angaged and motivated. It's been a week since BDO Global's Sustainability Services Workshop for EMEA region firms which was held in Oslo, Norway. I am proud to have been part of this with over 40 colleagues from the region, plus Australia and the USA. We spent an energetic few days further developing our global sustainability services to support our clients. Not surprisingly, there was a strong focus on CSRD-readiness.
