Many conferences are valuable to aging services providers, but none match the special experience of attending a LeadingAge event. Here’s why members make our gatherings a priority. ⬇️ #LeadingAge24
(upbeat music) - [Speaker] So this is a
powerful, powerful concept. - I'm often asked, "What
is the secret sauce "of LeadingAge Conferences?" And my answer is always the same, what is the secret sauce is our members. In other organizations,
you'll see great education, but you will not see a
member teaching members what they do best. - Just being able to share ideas with colleagues who
aren't afraid to share. There's not this sort of territorialism that we can find in other areas. So we get to share those ideas and borrow and offer help ourselves. - It gives you an opportunity, even as you're growing within your career, to talk to people who
might have experiences that, you know, you don't have yet. It's an opportunity for, you know, people who you have relationships
with in different areas, for you to bounce things
off of in a safe space. - One thing that we've been trying to do is figure out how to
do an at-home program. And today, at breakfast, I talked with someone who is
doing just that in New Jersey that was able to answer some
of the very practical questions that I had. And so now, I'm able to go
back and pick up the phone, have a Zoom call with her,
and get into some details. - We like to share the ideas that we have and we like to gather ideas as well. So we're actually presenting
at this year's conference on attracting and retaining
talent in our field through student internships. So we're gonna share our knowledge and we love that because we
can all learn from one another. - The most valuable part
about these conferences and these times together are
the intentional connections that are created and fostered. - They pull together just
extraordinary speakers and presenters that engage us and help us to do our work much better. - To advocate for policies
are important to our members. It's huge. I'd never done it before I came to a LeadingAge Summit
Conference several years ago and got to go on Capitol Hill. And it was just amazing
to realize that part of what we're doing can
affect federal policy. - We know that LeadingAge is
the ideal and the first choice for education and
development for our teams and we set some dollars aside
every year, specifically, for that purpose. It is just great to be able to
see the results in our teams when they come back to our organization and how excited they are about all these things
that they have learned, that they're ready to
be able to implement it in our own organizations. - Now, more than ever, we need
to invest in our workforce and develop leaders and give
them the opportunity to grow and that's how we are gonna
attract more people, you know, to our sector. - If you want somebody
to be able to contribute and stay longstanding
in your organization, then you would send them to
these LeadingAge meetings. These are important because
these add value to your employee and then that adds value
to your organization. - My supervisors- It's a boost in motivation. It's a boost in morale. It really does provide you with knowing how many people
are fighting the same fight you are, coming together,
learning, sharing ideas. Being able to network or just talk about different struggles, knowing that we're all being supported, really, you can't say enough. (upbeat music)

Yes, our industry is catching a big wave thanks to a shift in society that's made live events more valuable than ever. But this wave comes with greater expectations from clients & attendees influenced by what they see online who want the world with little understanding of the cost
That's a big challenge because failing to meet expectations is a recipe for disaster every time
