I hired 18 AEs in 39 days 🤯 Couldn't be more excited for 2024. 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲'𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗜 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗱: 1. Your team is the #1 thing. I'm blessed with an amazing recruiter, plus world class managers and AEs that are always willing to go above and beyond for talent and adding rockstars to our team. 2. OTE is important but it isn't everything. People also care a lot about our product, market position, the team, percentage of team hitting quota, our culture and the opportunity to learn and grow. They're thinking long term and holistically. 3. Your process is critical. A lot of other companies I was up against did 4+ interviews over 4 to 6 weeks. We did 2 interviews and our average time from first contact to close was ~ 11 days. 4. Transparency is key. I'm incredibly open, sincere and real with any question that's asked. I don't sugar coat things at all. I always communicate the benefits and more importantly the challenges. It needs to be a fit both ways. 5. Thoughtfulness matters. I always send videos to candidates when they ask questions. I introduce them to team members if they're up for it. Go over time if needed and I can. The little things matter. 6. Having a presence on LI is a massive edge. People can come into the interview process with an already strong connection to you as a leader, your expertise and style. Most people found out about the openings on my team because they have been following me for awhile. 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁: For those of you where it didn't work out this time, hold tight. I'll be hiring again soon and the moment there are openings I'll be sure to share them here! - Mike G 👉 PS Want to learn about my sales leadership strategies (for free)? If you are in tech sales and spend any time on LinkedIn, you might think that the endgame is the next big deal or commissions earned that defines success. Well, it is NOT! The sheer number of layoffs of top performers that risked it all to help build the next great thing is alarming. There is literally a sea of elite talent drowning in a sea of uncertainty. Yes, skills and knowledge are critical - but as someone with more than a decade thriving in the Top 1%, I can tell you that the reputation you build through integrity, hard work, and resilience, paired with the relationships you nurture with genuine care and empathy, are what truly set you apart. No tech stack or ACV attainment will ever replace that. In 2023, I took a gamble and like any roll of the dice, I lost. Sure, I made huge strides and solid contributions, yet the infrastructure was woven by a thread and leadership was non-existent. This left me feeling adrift with my confidence waning. I had to remind myself that these experiences do not define me. It is the trust we build and camaraderie we share, especially during challenging times, that really matter. My reputation and relationships built over decades (not months) have been my lighthouse and the bedrock upon which I can rebuild confidence, redefine success, and realize my dreams of collaboration and achievement. Reputation and Relationships are two constants that remain my guiding stars. This isn't just a soft sentiment; it's a powerful strategy that can transform the way we approach our careers and interactions within the industry. Building trust isn't about quick wins; it's about establishing a foundation for long-term relationships and mutual respect. Similarly, fostering camaraderie isn't about superficial networking; it's about creating genuine connections that can withstand the pressures of this dynamic field. I received this message today in my DM's from a RVP that I met 5 years ago. It is one of many that mirror the value I bring and memories I create. Quick wins are nice, but if that's what you are measuring success on, you're missing the mark. Here's to the power of the professional bonds we build and the reputation we nurture—may they always light our way.

Last week I think my client made a mistake 👀 My candidate had a final interview but didn't get the job They went with a more experienced candidate (this is the reason they gave) My candidate - was told she'd be a great fit for the team - interviewed at short notice (3 times) - crushed the interview process For the final stage she had to do a presentation She knew things about them that most of their employees probably don't know It was seriously impressive 🙌 But they still went with "more experience" > easier to justify > less perceived risk > potentially less time to train I'm working with this candidate exclusively - She'll join one of their competitors - She'll be a top performer - She'll be a Director at 30 (my opinion) One company's loss Is another's gain 🚀 → She has 3 years sales experience in the Flex Workspace market Looking to add a top performing salesperson to your team? Drop me a DM 👌

The truth in this post cannot be repeated enough. Companies exist to grow people and in-turn the people grow the company. If you’re creating a culture of excellence, honesty, and growth this is bound to happen. Be that catalyst of change in your practice, cultivate the next generation, and most importantly reset the expectation of the employer and employee relationship. It’s my hope that one day the culture we’re building working with Atlas Consulting becomes the standard by which we operate, that we grow leaders who help bleed into each and every corner of our little world.
Just got a call from an old pal. Similar call that I get about once a month from various colleagues. “ Mike , you realize by acknowledging your people’s greatness on LinkedIn you are just exposing them to recruiters and other company’s. And they are gonna recruit your MAPPies……” Noooooo …. You’re kidding !? 😎😂 I giggle when I see what other companies do to try and acknowledge their people without divulging their people. At MAPP, LLC it’s our job to make and keep our MAPPies happy. If someone wants to talk to ‘em. Great. If we can’t satisfy their career. Shame on us. We have to do better. By the way one of the things I love the most is how many of them that leave…. Come back. If you want to talk about what it would be like to be a MAPPie. I am hiring humble , hungry , smart folks.

Targeting layoffs may be a great prospecting strategy. Yeah, that is exactly what you read. That is what Jed Mahrle teaches as one of the creative ways to generate leads. Why would you want to reach out to companies that have gone through layoffs? The answer lies in understanding their priorities. When a company decides to downsize and reduce its workforce, it's an indicator that cost savings and operational efficiency are crucial to them. This insight provides you with a clear understanding of the company's immediate needs. By aligning your value proposition with their focus on efficiency and cost savings, you can craft relevant and compelling messaging that resonates with these companies. ✍ I think that I have decided to move away from Tech Recruiting and focus mostly on GTM roles. Not saying tech isn't fun! It's just not for me. It's important to love what you do and enjoy every second while you're working. Go-to-market roles are so much fun! And yes, that's the reason why I only want to focus on those roles. I love chatting with all levels of salespeople, customer success, marketers, etc. 👩💼 👨💼 Usually these conversations are more personable and bubbly 😁 I don't believe in making recruiting hard and I don't think we should always put on an ultra-serious face/tone each time you talk with someone. I'd rather be 100% human and deploy empathy, compassion, and genuine engagement. 😍 Just a quick Wednesday post 💻 - Let's have amazing conversations today and most importantly, let's HAVE SO MUCH FUN at work (if possible) 😅
