Meet our Chief Product Officer Brandon Tompkins! Brandon is an Austin native, transplanted to Dallas to do what he loves: helping technology companies grow. Outside of work, he spends time with his wife, daughter, and two German shepherds doing anything outdoors. Here’s Brandon’s “Why LeadsOnline:” “I am passionate about helping law enforcement departments do what they do best: catch the bad guys. I believe that technology and data can play a vital role in helping law enforcement close cases more quickly and efficiently, even when they are facing staffing shortages. But what really sets LeadsOnline apart is our people. We have a team of dedicated and passionate professionals who are committed to helping law enforcement in any way they can. I am truly inspired by their work ethic and their commitment to making our communities safer. Every day, I come to work knowing that I am part of something bigger than myself. I am proud to be a part of LeadsOnline, and I am honored to support law enforcement departments across the country.” What's Brandon’s favorite success story you ask? Here it is: “One of the cases I followed was of a little girl that was kidnapped in the northeast. A call was made to assist local law enforcement in tracking the suspected kidnappers which we did. We were able to pinpoint those individuals and law enforcement agencies were able to pick up that little girl a couple of states away within hours.” Here’s how LeadsOnline has helped Brandon grow: “With the market we serve and the way we are growing, I am being exposed to new technologies, international team members, and different ways to attack problems. LeadsOnline is pushing me every day to be a better colleague, leader, and person.” #LifeatLeads #LeadsOnline #Culture #CompanyCulture #Careers #LawEnforcement

Gareth Brickman is in the 🔆 Spotlight 🔆 today! He's been in support roles across awesome startups like Smartly, Sigma, and now Dagster. We've had the pleasure of working with him and the rest of the Dagster team and we're very lucky to feature him. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝘄𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁? That support interactions are a one-way street for summoning answers/solutions. Good support is almost always going to be a collaborative exercise that requires mutual cooperation to share information, clarify context and hone in on clues. Sometimes a supporter can know an answer or slam dunk solution off the top of their head (and we get to feel like wizards the rare times this happens!) but most typically we need users to be our partners in cracking their case. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁? Maintain a curious beginner’s mindset throughout. It will give you the confidence to ask probing questions that expand your own learning and understanding, and then provide natural empathy for when you’re helping the learning and understanding of your customers. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁'𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗳𝘂𝗻 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁? Novelty! In support anything can and will land on your desk. Not everyone has the stomach to be relentlessly confronted with the new and unknown everyday, but for me it’s my joie de vivre. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺? I’ve built two support teams in two very different SaaS verticals and both times I was surprised by the thirst for knowledge, dedication and camaraderie from all of my teammates across experience levels. When a support team is run right there is no tighter-knit and higher-functioning team in an org. Thank you Gareth! -- Know someone we should put in the 🔆 Spotlight 🔆? Let us know! 𝗡𝗼 𝗕𝘂𝗹𝗹 𝗡𝗲𝘄𝘀... 🐂 An exciting day at No Bull HQ. Lots of people: 💥 have been asking about future events and how to get involved; 💥 want to receive and share No Bull insights; 💥 want to find ways to drive value, build relationships and collaborate (ideally to drive change in legal), without the bull... So, we're excited to launch the 𝗡𝗼-𝗕𝘂𝗹𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻 - a newsletter to help you keep in touch and informed in line with the above aspirations, supporting those responsible for legal operations/strategy! Intro episode is out today and you can sign up using this link: https://rebrand.ly/NoBull. We will aim to share insights from the events, from the team (below), from special guests and attendees. Events-wise, in September, again with our friends at Montresor Legal, we are planning a No Bull: 💥 legal ops workshop; 💥 GC dinner; and a 💥 law firm partners' dinner. The theme for each will be 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 - as redefined with purpose and without the bull. How can everything be working well - processes, ops, value, relationships, DEI, health... and happiness? Please let us know if you want to join us or receive the output. Happy Friday, folks! cc Denis Potemkin, Jo Gustafsson, Neil Smith, Daniel Heymann, Justin Turman 🚀, Christopher Service, Claudia Bass, Gabriela Maclean, Joshua Blake #lawyers #legaloperations #legaltechnology #legalinnovation #generalcounsel #nobull

Starting in a new in-house role can be overwhelming. There is so much to learn, and also - because in-house teams are often leanly staffed - new team members are expected to start meaningfully contributing as soon as possible. Here are a few questions to ask when you join a new in-house legal team, or become a company's first lawyer, to set yourself up for success. What questions would you add to this list? Any other tips for success?
