Amidst the excitement of watching #Config2024 I had the chance to attend ADPList New York Chapter's inaugural event last night hosted by General Assembly! What a fantastic evening with inspirational panelists and the chance to meet some super interesting folks. Some reflections from last night's talk... 🤝 Talk to a variety of people and do it often! Connecting with friends, colleagues and mentors is crucial to learn about/get involved in projects you find interesting, build rapport with a group, help ensure alignment with different stakeholders and make sure you're answering the right questions with your work for maximum impact. 💥 Impact comes in many forms! It can be easy to get lost in metrics and KPIs, but sometimes impact can be more than just finance-centric measurements. Don't discount the importance of personal and social impact as well as efforts that have an effect in the business or group as a whole. 🤩 Showing your failures is not a weakness. Projects aren't always pretty! Showing your "uglies" and how you work to fix them not only helps you tell your story as a designer but also shows your thought process and problem-solving ability. Especially in the times of exciting (and honestly a little scary) advancements in AI, showing the rough around the edges work can cement your humanity.
