ECO30 Day 21: Declutter and Donate Unused Materials Decluttering your home is not only a practical way to organize your living space but also an opportunity to give back to those in need and promote sustainable consumption. By donating clothing and unused materials, you can extend the lifecycle of items, reduce waste, and support charitable organizations that provide essential resources to individuals and communities. By decluttering and donating items we no longer need or use, we create space for what truly matters and cultivate a sense of simplicity and balance in our lives. #ECO30Impact

As we celebrate Community Garden Week, I'm reflecting on the incredible journey we've had with our community sensory garden in Jubilee Park. A couple of years ago, alongside some amazing volunteers, we rolled up our sleeves and brought this beautiful space to life. From planting Colourful flowers to creating pathways, every moment was filled with love and dedication. One of the highlights for me was reaching out to our local community for donations of plants and flowers. It was heartwarming to see the generous contributions pouring in from all corners. Want to bring your community project to life too? Here are some tips on getting donations: Use local community groups: Spread the word about your project in local community groups and forums. You'd be surprised how many people are willing to help when they know it's for a good cause. Approach local businesses: Reach out to local shops and businesses for donations of materials or funds. Many businesses are happy to support community initiatives. Host fundraising events: Organise events like bake sales, table top sales, or charity auctions to raise funds for your project. Not only are these events fun, but they also bring the community together. Get creative with advertising: Design eye-catching ads for social media, local newspapers, or community notice boards to spread the word about your project and attract potential donors. Together, we can turn visions into reality and make a positive impact in our community. Are you ready to start your community project, but struggling with where to start? Reach out to me, to see how i can help. #CommunityGardenWeek #SensoryGarden #Community #Charity #Fundraising #Donations #CommunityInvolvement

2024 – the year we all try to #reuse more! We’re all thinking about ways to reuse now, whether donating, repairing and re-wearing or re-selling. Here our top tips to get the most out of what you have: 💚 Repair your household items instead of ditching them. There’s a big grassroots movement with repair cafes popping up all over our communities – a quick look online should help you scout them out 💚 Donate and hep your community. There’s lots of reuse charities such as the British Heart Foundation who will accept unwanted good condition items, from furniture to clothing. Or why not choose smaller local charities? 💚 Give away or sell your unwanted items on social media marketplaces such as Vinted. 💚 Start your own ‘swap shop’ with colleagues or friends. #reduce #reuse #recycle #LessIsMore #2024 #Sustainability #Environment

Saving time and resources every day
Donating to Good Sammy just got easier as our yellow bag kerbside collections for Perth’s councils are all locked in for the year! If you haven't heard, our yellow bag collection service asks local residents to pack their quality pre-loved items into a yellow bag we provide. Residents then place their yellow bag near their letterbox on an allocated pick up date, and we take care of the rest. Our yellow bag delivery method? Electric bikes - ensuring an eco-friendly distribution to residents. We align our yellow bag collection service with existing council verge collections to maximise textile recovery. In areas without a community donation hub, our scheduled service offers a convenient alternative. Thanks to all the Perth local governments that have participated so far! For more information, or to set up a community donation hub in your area, email info@goodsammy.com.au or call 9463 0500 during weekdays, 8am to 4pm. #SupportingDisabilityEmployment #CarbonReduction Jenni Wroe

Today is World Recycling Day. We as humans consume way, way too much, and the worse part is how we discard the items, and what happens to it all. As per the UN Sustainable Development Group: ♻ only 9% of all the plastic waste generated globally is recycled 🌱 79% ends up in landfills or in nature 🔥 12% is incinerated Even if amazing organizations like the The Ocean Cleanup keep cleaning our oceans, with our consumption, and with the global #populationgrowth, we are not doing any progress, and it will probably just get worse with time. I follow The Ocean Cleanup on Instagram and see their awesome work... just to have those rivers they clean accumulate #plasticpollution and other junk all over again in a matter of months, sometimes weeks. It's just endless!! I once shared this post (in 2019), now, the population is 8+ billion!...: "I'm one person in 7.7 Billion [now, 8+Billion!] people in the world. I am not be able to make a huge difference on my own. But every bag, straw, or single-use plastic I choose NOT to use, won't end in landfills, the oceans, or in the stomach of a whale, because of me." We're already talking about #spacedebris, my goodness, can we take care of the #earth !! #singleuseplastics #overconsumption #WorldRecyclingDay #bethechange #sustainablegoals #sustainablefuture
The Ocean Cleanup is a non-profit organization on a mission to rid the world's oceans of plastic. As a non-profit, we are funded solely through individual and commercial donations. So, every piece of plastic we've cleaned up, every Interceptor deployment, and all our published open-sourced research is thanks to individuals like you. Everyone can contribute to cleaner oceans. Now you can also easily fundraise - as an individual, as a team, or as a company - through bake sales, physical activity, your own cleanup initiatives, and more: https://lnkd.in/eaJhRYCQ.

DID YOU KNOW? Businesses that donate surplus stock gain a competitive advantage by growing their brand awareness and making a difference to potential clients and the community. Not to mention, donations are also very attractive to employees as many will be drawn to companies that are concerned about social and environmental issues regarding the wastage of textile items, which can help businesses to retain top talent. 🧡♻ Ultimately, by donating to We Recycle Clothes, businesses participate in helping the community by providing unsold clothing to charities, which can change the lives of families and individuals. 📅 For more information about our surplus collections please contact us by calling 0333 577 0030 or emailing info@werecycleclothes.org.uk #werecycleclothes #miltonkeynes #bedford #bedfordshire #donatemiltonkeynes #donateclothes #clothescollection #prelovedclothes #recycleclothes #generosity #empathy #recycling #sustainable #uk #clothes #clothing #cloth #donate #donatetoday #donatenow #donations #unwantedclothes

Day 21: Declutter and Donate Unused Materials We're diving deep into the transformative power of decluttering and donating. Decluttering isn't just about tidying up - it's a journey towards clarity, simplicity, and mindful living. What's the way forward? ✓ Set aside time to declutter your home, focusing on areas where excess clutter tends to accumulate, such as closets, drawers, and storage spaces. ✓ Sort and organize donated items into separate categories, ensuring they are clean, sorted, and ready for donation. ✓Gather items that are in good condition but no longer serve you, and donate them to households, local charities, or community organizations that can put them to good use. When was the last time you decluttered? #eco30impact #sustainablelifestyle #day21
