Keep learning, no matter how small the time window! Nothing you learn ever goes to waste. Even a single day can be enough to pick up something new. While you might not master it, it can certainly prepare you for life's events. Recently, my workplace hosted a chess competition. I hadn't played chess since 2004-05, and barely remembered how the pieces moved. With just 10 days until my game, I dedicated myself to learning chess again. In those 10 days, I played over 200 games, studied various strategies, openings, and tricks. Ten days ago, I didn’t even know what e4 or f4 meant. Now, I’m quite familiar with the board. Well, I did lose my game, but gave a decent challenge to my opponent, given his chess experience over the years. The takeaway here is to keep learning and gaining knowledge. It will always be useful. #KeepLearning #NeverStopGrowing

Drop your hot tips for LinkedIn profile coolness.
I want some sparring for my sad Linkedin profile 😅 I have seen couple of so well done ones, but can't remember whose those were. I have done so many cool things, but that doesn't show in my profile the way I have seen others doing it. I want to change that! Where should I start? Who should I ask? This will also become relevant to my students in Espoo Game LAB later this year! #EspooGameLAB

Student at University of Silesia and vocational school: public administration and mathematics for finance and economics
7 Lessons from Jan-Krzysztof Duda Jan-Krzysztof Duda was born on April 26, 1998, in Krakow, Poland. He started playing chess at the age of 5 and achieved the title of grandmaster by the age of 15, making him one of the youngest grandmasters in the history of Polish chess. His meteoric rise in the chess world continues, earning him international acclaim. Lesson 1: Find Your Niche Duda is known for his unique style of play, which he showcased during the 2021 Chess World Cup by defeating Magnus Carlsen, thus ending his record streak of 125 unbeaten games. Through his creativity and ability to adapt strategies, Duda has proven that finding and nurturing your own style is key to success. Lesson 2: Mastery of Openings Duda's impressive knowledge of diverse openings was displayed in his game against Wesley So at the Grand Chess Tour in 2019. Mastering the Grünfeld Defense allowed him to dominate the game from the beginning. Lesson 3: Use Psychology in Play In a match against Alireza Firouzja during the 2019 World Rapid Championships, Duda leveraged the young age and inexperience of his opponent, coaxing errors under pressure. In chess, not only moves but also the ability to psychologically impact your opponent matters. Lesson 4: Importance of Prep Outside Games In a game against Hikaru Nakamura during the FIDE Chess.com Grand Swiss 2021, Duda demonstrated excellent theoretical preparation, gaining an early advantage. Lesson 5: Play to the End One of Duda's key traits is his determination to fight to the last piece. In his match with Levon Aronian at the Chess.com Speed Chess Championship 2020, he utilized a complicated endgame to secure a point, even though most of the game was even. Lesson 6: Innovation in the Middle Game Duda often introduces innovative ideas in the middle phase of the game, which was evident in his game against Nakamura at the 2017 World Cup, where an unexpected move tilted the balance in his favor. Lesson 7: Time Management Effective time management is a skill Duda has consistently demonstrated throughout his career. In his game against Yu Yangyi during the 2019 World Cup, his ability to make quick and effective decisions was crucial in securing a draw. During a tournament in Wijk aan Zee, Jan-Krzysztof Duda faced an unusual challenge. Before a round, he found a lost wallet belonging to one of the participants. Instead of immediately returning it, he decided to use the situation as an opportunity for a joke, placing the wallet at his playing station. When his opponent recognized his missing item, Duda explained with a broad smile that he wanted to check if his opponent was as attentive in daily life as on the chessboard. This lighthearted moment not only endeared him to his fellow chess players and the audience but also showcased his human side and sense of humor.

🏆 Excited to share my recent experience participating in the Gaming Education System chess tournament! 🌟 During the first round of qualifiers, I played three intense games, each offering valuable insights and lessons that resonate deeply with my journey as a developer. Every move counts: I realized the importance of considering every move meticulously. There were moments when I inadvertently weakened my position, but I learned to regulate my emotions and stay focused. This mirrors the coding journey, where overlooking small details can lead to significant setbacks. It's crucial to consider all aspects to ensure a robust outcome. Prioritizing sacrifices: One of the toughest decisions I faced was sacrificing my rook. Reflecting on this, I understood the necessity of prioritizing and sacrificing certain elements for long-term success. As developers, we often encounter similar dilemmas, where we must organize our priorities and focus on essential aspects to achieve our goals effectively. Overall, participating in the tournament was not just about the thrill of the game but also about the valuable lessons it offered. I'm grateful for the opportunity to learn and grow as a chess player and developer. Special thanks to Ali Jawad for organizing such a fantastic event and to my opponent Sonya Rzgar for the challenging matches! Your efforts truly made this experience memorable. I am looking forward to applying these insights to future challenges! Let's keep striving for excellence. 💪♟️ #ChessLessons #DeveloperJourney #ContinuousLearning

Towards the last quarter of 2023, I started playing regular chess on Chess.com after watching the eventful final match between 𝗠𝗮𝗴𝗻𝘂𝘀 and 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗴𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗵𝗮𝗮. It took me a while to get to grips with different tactics, tricks and strategies when playing with opponents worldwide. After having played close to 𝟮𝟭𝟭𝟲 games in the past four months (𝗶𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗱𝗱𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲), I have come to recognise three key changes that have helped me professionally: [𝟭] 𝗙𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲: I started playing the game majorly on timers of 𝟭 𝗼𝗿 𝟯 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝘂𝘁𝗲𝘀, which effectively meant I had to play my moves with precision but also under the time pressure. As a 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁, I have encountered numerous times when clients have asked for faster turnaround times, and I would feel nervous under pressure. With a gamified approach towards handling pressure through 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝘀𝘀, my approach to tight deadlines and accurate analysis has fundamentally improved. [𝟮] 𝗞𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗣𝘂𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴: I clearly remember wanting to 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗼𝗿 𝗔𝗯𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗻 a game every time I was in a losing position or lost my Queen early on. Ironically, I converted near defeats into victories by sticking to the game instead of leaving it abruptly. This approach has helped me whenever there's a bug or inconsistency within a data analytics project or a problem I cannot solve immediately. [𝟯] 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗔𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱: With the game of 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝘀𝘀, every player has to keep asking 𝗪𝗵𝘆? behind every move, decision, and sacrifice their opponent makes. This question converts into thinking several moves ahead to decide the course of the game. Whilst earlier, I would limit my 𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 & 𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 only to what is asked for; I now choose to dive deeper to understand both the root cause and if things could be approached differently. If you haven't started playing this beautiful game yet, I would strongly encourage you to do so. #linkedinlearning #studentcommunity #everydaylearning #chess #datascience #datanalytics
