Continuing this weeks theme discuss the revolutionary impact of esports in #k12 educational settings we are highlighting the critical role #k12esports programs have in fostering a new form of engagement for our students. The Esports Educational Ecosystem: The inclusion of esports in schools transcends the realm of extracurricular activities, marking a paradigm shift towards an educational ecosystem that is reflective of our digital era. This integration offers a multifaceted approach to #learning, #personaldevelopment, and #careerreadiness. Digital Literacy and Technology Proficiency: Esports inherently promotes digital literacy, as students interact with advanced computing environments and online platforms. This familiarity is crucial in a world where digital competency is as essential as traditional literacy. Cognitive Development: Research suggests that the strategic and analytical thinking required in competitive gaming can enhance cognitive functions such as memory, attention, and spatial visualization. These skills are transferable to academic pursuits and problem-solving in various contexts. Social-Emotional Learning (SEL): Esports provides a unique platform for social-emotional development, including resilience, emotional regulation, and stress management. The competitive nature of esports, coupled with team dynamics, offers real-world scenarios for developing these critical life skills. Scholarship and Professional Pathways: Increasingly, universities recognize the talent and dedication of esports athletes by offering scholarships, similar to traditional sports. Concorde Education's Vision for the Future At Concorde Education, we are committed to pioneering this integration of esports within #k12 educational programs. We aim to equip our students with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in both their #academic and #professional futures. Our ongoing dialogue with educators, students, and industry professionals is key to refining our approach and ensuring that our educational programs remain at the forefront of innovation and relevance. #Analog Games to start your #digital gaming journey? Yes, please, and thank you! At the Q&A session of our panel “From Pixels to Pedagogy: How Esports can Uplevel your STEM Academic Programs” at #Bett24, I was asked a rather underrated question by a wonderful teacher from Gran Canaria, Spain. How to start an esports program in an elementary school where there is no technical infrastructure, funding, or even curriculum offerings in the preferred languages. (Thank you Sam for inspiring me to write this series Samantha Halford) There are obvious answers (that I also gave) like programs similar to #GirlsWhoGame, where Minecraft Education is used as a learning tool, or esports curriculum resources offered by Network of Academic and Scholastic Esports Federations, Dell Technologies, Intel Corporation, or Acer for Education that you can access for free. These are not one-size-fits-all solutions so let me provide you with another perspective; why not #boardgame? I might be biased as I religiously play #boardgames and #tabletopgames as well as design boardgames for various #socialimpact causes, but did you know boardgames use the very same #videogame #mechanics to provide kids with the opportunity to experience the joy of #games from early ages 🎲 Especially team-based board games serve as an excellent gateway to #esports programs for young children due to their inherent qualities fostering #collaboration, #strategy, and #criticalthinking Games like "League of Legends" or "Dota 2" share similarities with board games such as "Settlers of Catan" or "Risk" in terms of team dynamics and strategic planning. Engaging in board games cultivates #communication skills, #teamwork, and #decisionmaking abilities, all essential elements for success in esports. Moreover, board games provide a tangible, accessible introduction to #competitivegaming, allowing youngsters to grasp fundamental concepts before transitioning to digital platforms. By starting with board games, children can develop a solid foundation of gaming skills and sportsmanship, preparing them effectively for the structured environment of esports programs. I'll follow up with a list of games, matching them up with various esports titles to maybe inspire some #teachers or #parents to start their gaming journey with their young ones 🤗 Game on!
