The removal of encampments is the beginning of the work, not the end. Vancouver's East Hastings businesses are learning this the hard way. Once an area has been abandoned by customers due to an enduring perception, it is difficult for area businesses to regain what was lost. The stakes are high because downtown Halifax, unlike Vancouver, is too small to have a "good" part and a "bad" part. Cities can't remove an encampment and walk away. They need ongoing services and supports for encampment residents, and continued enforcement to ensure tents don't simply return or spread around from one area to several others. Downtown Halifax is not East Hastings. Our homeless crisis, if handled swiftly and with care, is still manageable. Join our call for an encampment management plan at https://lnkd.in/gK_JDdm9.

No city should waste its resources building stadiums for private franchised soccer clubs. This practice is a blatant exploitation of public funds, diverting taxpayer money to enrich the already mega-wealthy owners who pocket the profits while evading tax liabilities. It’s an outrageous misuse of public assets, prioritizing private gain over the needs of the community. Cities should at least own their teams outright, ensuring that the financial benefits—from ticket sales to sponsorship deals—are reinvested in the community. This would stop the parasitic relationship where private owners siphon off profits and stick the public with the bill. It’s high time cities stood up against this corporate welfare and used public money for public good https://lnkd.in/eTajj4nA

Candidate for the Buffalo Party of Saskatchewan for the Battlefords riding in the 2024 election | Host of The Karis Project podcast | Chief Executive Officer at DSR KARIS CONSULTING INC.
In this video, I address some of the most pressing issues facing our community. From ensuring election integrity and tackling media bias to fighting corruption, I discuss why these issues are central to this election. I also highlight the importance of supporting families, revitalizing local manufacturing for economic growth, and the cost benefits of producing goods here at home. Additionally, I explore why Saskatchewan must have provincial jurisdiction over law enforcement to strengthen community safety and ensure our unique needs are prioritized. A vote for me and the Buffalo Party is a vote for accountability, self-reliance, and real support for Saskatchewan families.
