🛳 Boosting the green transition in the cruise sector! 🌊 ECO CRUISING FUTOUR has taken a new step forward for boosting the transformation of the cruise sector into a more sustainable and bluer industry. The latest action launched to achieve this goal has been the kick-off of an outstanding training programme to provide key players in the cruise sector the skills and knowledge needed to champion sustainable practices in the industry. 📌 Under the name of CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAMME, this initiative comprises two comprehensive online courses, both for free. On one hand, a 25-hour Training Programme, which has been developed for employees in the cruise sector and its supply chain, including SMEs. Further steps completed ✅ With great enthusiasm, expertise and creative ideas, representatives from tourism, mobility, gastronomy, and hospitality sectors in our pilot municipalities Werfenweng, Weissensee, and Mallnitz actively participated in the measures workshops of the FFG-funded #AUTOFREI project. Our goal: advancement of climate-friendly leisure and tourism mobility. 🔍 Over the past months, target group-specific surveys were conducted in these pilot communities and focused on the three target groups: tourists, the local community, and tourism staff. Based on these insights, AIT Austrian Institute of Technology and EGTC Alpine Pearls developed personas and carried out a comparative best practice analysis, that helped us identify gaps and needs for better accessibility and climate-friendly mobility in the communities. 🚢 ECO CRUISING FUTOUR, the EU co-funded project aiming at exploiting the green and blue potential of the West Mediterranean tourism SMEs, will design eco-smart cruising packages targeting Millennials and Gen Z. This initiative responds to the fact that young consumers are the fastest-growing segment of the cruise line’s customers. 🎯 The main goal is to offer innovative routes and solutions that pave the way towards net zero for coastal areas by introducing a new experience for young targets of the cruise world.  In addition, this initiative pretends to make young tourists aware of food waste reduction and waste treatment. 🚵♀️ This project will promote the cruise destinations striving to achieve green local mobility and be connected to the local area in terms of cultural excellence and regional food and art production.
