Changing the future for nearly 80,000 youth every year, preparing them for work and life. Leadership is KEY to this relationship-focused, strategic and innovative thinker, results-oriented, coach, and speaker.
Preparing for this situation below is part of our operational strategy. Whether it be a power outage, active shooter situation, medical emergency, etc. we have protocols and processes. But it’s not enough to have processes written in a manual. Ongoing training and practice is critical to preparation and execution. These physical trainings are part of our onboarding process and are scheduled throughout the year to ensure we know exactly what to do in each situation and remain calm. Way to go Team Junior Achievement of South Florida for your flawless execution during yesterdays power outage. Your swift and intentional actions ensured the safety and security of all. How are you addressing security and safety training in your organization?
A little setback didn't discourage our team from serving the Broward County Public Schools students in JA Finance Park and JA BizTown. Today, the power went out across Broward County, including at JA World Huizenga Center at the Lillian S. Wells Pavilion. Our programs team worked together to make sure the buses were there to pick up the 5th and 8th graders, and the entire JA staff remained calm and made sure our building was safe for everyone. Kudos to you all! #teamworkmakesthedreamwork #thepowerofpossibilities Join us. Check out job opportunities and apply today. https://lnkd.in/dRDW6rid

"You're a long way from home. What are you doing in *insert state here* ?" We travel a lot, so we hear that question a lot, including today while recruiting at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Tacoma, Washington. The answer to that question is always the same. "We are looking for future Arizona State Troopers... they just don't live in Arizona yet." There are great candidates all over the country. If we were to restrict our recruiting efforts to within Arizona's borders only, we would miss out on a lot of them. Motivated people move cross-country for great job opportunities in other industries all the time, so why would that be different when seeking a career with an elite law enforcement agency? The simple answer: It's not. A comprehensive recruiting plan is one that targets the best candidates, both in- and out-of-state.

I will never forget one of the first weeks of practicums as Field Director. I took the time to reach out to every Field Instructor with a phone call. You’ll never guess what happened . . .. They told me no one from any university had ever called to see how things were going. I was floored. How had these well-known, highly recommended people serving our students lacked basic support? I know how. Field Directors’ plates are beyond full. There is barely time to move one thing off it before three more get added. In constant need to support students, Field Instructors are usually the first thing to get pushed to the side. We have this backwards. When we pour into Field Instructors, we are automatically serving our students as well. They are the ones who interact, guide, and meteor students each day on site. They are the ones evaluating their skills. If we ignore them, we are in turn, ignoring our students. I want to empower Field Instructors and Field Directors to change this. It can be done. https://lnkd.in/gmwqh332 #SWFieldInstructorRevival #SupportWebinar #SocialWorkHeroes #FieldInstructorSupport #SocialWorkLeadership #SuccessTogether

As the primary recruiting staffer for Faith Baptist School, I regularly receive candidate information to sift through and pass judgement on. Being a Baptist school, deriving our existence from Faith Baptist Church in Salisbury, Maryland, our school chooses to be highly selective in who it chooses to bring onto the team. The question to be answered by our hiring team is this; what are the parameters by which we make hiring decisions? For candidates to our small school, a born-again testimony of salvation is critical to ensure the proper functioning of this school as a place of both "secular" and spiritual learning. Similarly I would strongly suggest that self-consistency is crucial to the operation of any system. But at your current company, how important is it to make sure that each new hire actually believes in the mission?

Volunteering as a school governor is a rewarding experience that has a positive impact on both your community and your career. I've been governor at a primary school for a couple of years now and here's a few reasons why I enjoy it: 1. It’s a leadership opportunity: As a school governor, I experience leadership at “board level” – I’m part of the governing body, helping to shape the school's vision, manage its finances, and analyse educational outcomes. 2. I gain transferable skills: Being a governor provides me with transferable skills that are valuable in any workplace, such as… - Strategic Thinking: I contribute to decisions that directly affect the school and its students. - Financial Management: I review and approve budgets, making tough decisions about resource allocation. - HR Skills: I’m involved in recruiting and performance managing the headteacher. - Data Analysis: I use data to inform decisions and track progress (my forte!). - Analytical Thinking: I solve problems efficiently - essential for effective governance. 3. Personal Development: Volunteering as a governor allows me to learn about areas outside of my usual expertise and from people I might not usually interact with.
