Technology in Education The classroom of today looks vastly different from its traditional counterpart. These days, we don’t solely rely on chalkboards. Modern education now extends beyond the four walls of a classroom, integrating devices, connectivity, and AI. However, this progress brings challenges, the most pressing being the balance between using technology and maintaining quality education. Today, students can explore global cultures and academic research and interact with peers worldwide. Yet, this freedom can lead to a disconnect from practical, empirical learning. We must not disconnect from technology but teach students to use digital resources wisely. Techniques like dedicated study hours, website blockers, and time management can help students harness the internet effectively. While technology brings convenience, it cannot replace the value of human interaction. A balanced approach, combining digital tools with face-to-face interactions, classroom discussions, and group projects, is crucial. In this changing landscape, the best way to fuse education and technology is to strike a balance between virtual and personal interactions. This approach will help train children to use digital tools effectively while continuous learning and strong personal foundations. https://lnkd.in/g5y6-nYS #Education #Technology #FutureOfLearning *Source: Slideshare

The decisions that administrators make have an outsized impact on students and faculty. Our latest EdTech survey revealed that only 47% of admin are very or extremely confident in their ability to choose effective EdTech products for their department or institution. This could be because of a lack of data. Indeed, 48% of administrators in our sample reported that their institution conducts technology audits less than once a year. Among these, 14% said their institution never conducts technology audits. Thirty percent of administrators reported that their institution seeks feedback from faculty members on their experiences with EdTech less than once a year, and 38% said that their institution seeks feedback from students less than once a year. Without up-to-date information about their current tech stack and how these tools are impacting students and faculty, administrators struggle to make informed decisions that benefit their institutions. Mediating educational technologies: #Edtech brokering between schools, academia, governance, and industry "The use of #educationaltechnologies in #schools is being reshaped by a new kind of intermediary organization that brokers relations between schools, academia, governance, and industry. In this article we define and examine ‘edtech brokers’ as organizations that operate between the edtech industry, public schools, research centers and governments, guiding schools in the #procurement and #pedagogical use of edtech. We claim that edtech brokers have become increasingly relevant in the past years, embedding new types of professionalities into #education, and taking an active role in co-creating and updating schools’ digital infrastructures, the evidence-making mechanisms around edtech, and the pedagogical practices around edtech. The article proposes three distinct categories of edtech brokers – ambassador, search engine, and data brokers – and explores their practices of mediation. By doing so, we outline the potential effects that brokers can have on schools and edtech markets, and we disentangle their specific imaginaries of the future of education they promote, often aligned with wider policy desires for reform."
