🎙️🌱 Get ready for our twelfth episode of the URBINARY season! Episode 12: Bridging Theory and Practice in Urban Planning: Insights from Abdallah Jreij In this episode, we delve into Track 4 of the AESOP Young Academics Conference 2024, titled "Planning tools and techniques, bridging the gap between theory and practice", we're joined by Abdallah Jreij, one of the track coordinators from Politecnico di Milano, who delves an enlightening discussion on how urban research, bridging theory with practice and innovation, tackles the complex challenges of modern urbanity through experimentation and the application of innovative planning tools, fostering collaboration between academia and private entities to shape better cities and beyond. Assisting him during the conference was Jaime Sierra Muñoz, providing invaluable support in navigating the discussions surrounding urban-rural divide. A key moment for the Track 4 discussion was the roundtable session titled "Eyes on practice, feet in theory". This roundtable brought together insights from Track 3 and Track 4 to address urgent changes needed within academia for effective integration with practice in urban planning. Discussants Gabriele Pasqui, JuliaWesely, Israa Mahmoud, and Adriano Bisello, alongside guests Silvia Ronchi, Stefano Salata, Sara Lorenzini, and Eleonora Ciscato, explored the timeliness of knowledge production and the role of young academics in shaping urban research. They questioned the efficacy of current research paradigms in delivering tangible outcomes and examined the challenges researchers face in engaging with public and private actors. Discussions centered on democratizing research and enhancing its inclusivity to address contemporary societal challenges effectively https://lnkd.in/dzKbA829 #URBINARY #PodcastInterview #UrbanPlanning #AESOP2024 #YoungAcademics #TrackCoordination #PhDCandidate #UrbanAcademicDialogue #BridgingTheoryAndPractice #ResearchForImpact #AcademicEngagement #UrbanChallenges
