Is Asia becoming an increasingly attractive choice for Indian students planning to study abroad? 🎓 23 out of the top 100 universities in the world are in Asia and they tend to be ignored, and studying in those is closer to home and cheaper than Europe and the Americas for Indian study abroad candidates. Countries like Japan, Taiwan, and South Korea especially want to increase their student intake drastically in the near future, and are becoming serious options for Indian students with their top universities. Japan wants to hit 400,000 from 318,000 international students. South Korea wants to add 100k students to their 200k, while Taiwan wants to sextuple their pre-pandemic international student community of 57k to 320k by 2027. These countries want to increase their pool of high-skilled talent to aid their growing industries, like the semiconductor industry in Taiwan, with special emphasis on STEM students. They have introduced various measures to compete for the top talent, for example, Japan is offering more internship programs, like with Nikkei Asia, to convince graduates to stay in the country. With Indian students already looking at more offbeat locations like Germany, Netherlands, and Estonia, will Asia be next?
