A nice summary of what transformers in machine learning are. Transformers in ML represent a groundbreaking technology that has found diverse applications in natural language processing, computer vision, speech recognition etc. This technology has also been applied to analyze DNA and protein sequences as they are forms of "language" encoding information. Notably, the program AlphaFold utilizes a type of transformer architecture to predict protein structures with remarkable accuracy. I've recently learned about transformers, but I feel that I've just skimmed the surface.
