Moreover, 18% of participants said the study they partook in was ‘very’ or ‘somewhat disruptive’ to their daily routine, with more than half attributing this to travel requirements." Mobilizing nurses can have big impacts on patient engagement and retention rates. When we think about accessibility, one of the biggest barriers is transportation logistics. This is especially true in rural areas. By bringing a nurse to patients, clinical researchers can massively improve the success of clinical trials. I have been always a defender of going to specialists to have a more accurate diagnosis. Well, this article might show the importance of the family medicine as a first point of contact, and how they can give fluent flow in the healthcare systems. The shortage of family physicians isn't just a healthcare issue; it's a systemic challenge with significant implications. Wow! This is just beyond scary. If we do not have access to primary care (thanks to ACA I don’t actually) we will see a massive uprise in preventable deaths. This is an important are that requires expertise. We need to stop this profit train ASAP. Which means physicians need to stand up in mass numbers. As do voters. Much as there isn’t really a mental health provider shortage (yet), I don’t believe there is a medical professional shortage either (yet). But if we don’t make it accessible for all to try, affordable for all to succeed we will have massive shortages in all care areas. I personally know five people who want to be doctors but cannot afford the tuition. I know one person now deeply in student debt because she tried but realized after only one year that she was not going to make it through all the years of education. We can have affordable tuition, we used to have it. Pay attention to what has been taken away and by whom each time you vote. Oh, & yes my ACA plan requires I “have” a primary care doctor. Here is the Payment Model for Family Physician's and option to the Fee for Service Model Longitudinal Family Physician (LFP) Payment Model The Longitudinal Family Physician (LFP) Payment Model was developed by the BC Ministry of Health in consultation with BC Family Doctors and Doctors of BC. An alternative to the fee-for-service model, the LFP payment model is a blended model to support physicians in family practice who provide longitudinal family medicine care. It was developed to: Recognize the complexity of longitudinal care Value the time spent with patients Resource family medicine clinics as critical healthcare infrastructure Acknowledge the value of indirect care and clinical administrative services Support physician agency and flexibility in practice It supports family physicians by compensating for time, patient interactions, and the number and complexity of patients in their practice. On February 1, 2023, eligible family physicians in BC who registered for the LFP Payment Model started billing under the LFP Payment Model. https://lnkd.in/gCjWMN_A

Sad day for Primary Care. Frustrating to see a large health system (University Hospitals ) bow to the forces of procedures and short-term profit. The power of primary care is indisputable: adults who regularly see a primary care physician have 33% lower health care costs and 19% lower odds of dying prematurely than those who see only a specialist (from American Academy of Family Physicians ). TL;DR: Rather than focusing time and effort on limiting prescriptive authority and thereby access to health care, providing a rich training pipeline and supportive practice environment for MDs and NPs can improve both performance and health outcomes. Researchers in this study published this week in the Annals of Internal Medicine examined data from Medicare Part D beneficiaries (65 and older) from 2013-2019 in the 29 states where nurse practitioners have full scope of practice authority. Using the American Geriatrics Society's Beers Criteria to define "innappropriate prescribing" for older adults , they found that nurse practitioners' prescribing habits do not vary from that of MDs in terms of these inappropriate prescribing guidelines. https://lnkd.in/geHhgW6h
