Visionary technologist and lateral thinker driving market value in regulated, complex ecosystems. Open to leadership roles.
Augmented Learning Relationships 💫 In my academic and creative odyssey, symbiotic relationships with my educators remain the bedrock of my development as a systems leader and poet. My personal story of scholarship in 1993 at age 16, after meeting the professor parents of my future son's mom. These and the subsequent trajectories cascade lifelong connections, like sprawling ancient secret societies or guilds, where candlelit masters passed down wisdoms to their apprentices. Such co-evolution of fellow teacher-learners in life has been instrumental in honing my heuristics, contemplations, and expressions. Presumably our feelings mutualize. Ramping up here now, expressing as gospel humanity’s lineage in teaching-learning, this post sees our patterns stretching back through far into annals of times past. Together let’s act on our new arena, this ~AGI era. For us, even platforms like Facebook serve as agoras where dialogue between teacher and student continues to flourish. By transcending the physical boundaries of classrooms and campuses, these virtual spaces engage us in the perennial dance of ideas, a ritual that deepens our shared commitment to the crafts of thinking and writing. To instill deeply into my thoughtful readers, we’re drawing upon the insights of scholars like Díaz et al. (2018) and Fish, Church, and Winter (2016), to share dream for the future of education, a vision that cherishes and amplifies our sacred bonds through the ethical, judicious integration of AI and other technological advancements. These researchers, who help illuminate the complexities of integrating diverse knowledge systems, underscore the importance of cultural and human elements in learning and serve as beacons in our quest to reimagine education in the AI era. Such work informs a shared belief that technology, when wielded with intention and sensitivity, can magnify the essence of the educational experience without eroding its fundamental and necessary human core. This conviction is not a solitary revelation but see the depth of our chorus echoed in the findings of Roux et al. (2006) and Supovitz and Turner (2000), whose research advocates for collaborative knowledge creation and the dynamic exchange that characterizes the most enriching constructivist environments. Thus, AI can act not just as a surrogate for human interaction, but as a scaffold that enhances the depth and breadth of the teacher-student connection. Our thesis, therefore, is not merely a reflection of personal experience, but a proposition richly adorned in academic discourse. It is a call to cultivate an educational ecosystems, where AI as digital praxis only augments the timeless dialogue between teacher and student. Relationship maintenance beats as the heart of learnings’ journey. In this our shared vision, technology can serve to bridge rather than replace teachings, entraining collective shared human sensual wisdoms through our sacred dialogics. 🕸️ #HypergraphMindset #pedagogy #ai

Will AI take away the teacher’s job? Keep reading to find out. In the heart of South Africa, living nearby beautiful mountains and vibrant villages, there was a young teacher named Khomani. Khomani had always been passionate about education, driven by a desire to make a difference in the lives of others. Growing up in a rural community himself, he understood firsthand the challenges faced by those seeking quality education. Despite his dedication, Khomani often found himself overwhelmed by the huge amount of the task at hand. Resources were scarce, classrooms overcrowded, and traditional teaching methods seemed to fall short in engaging his students. But Khomani refused to give up. He was determined to find a way to bridge the gap and provide his peers with the best possible education. It was during this time that Khomani discovered the power of artificial intelligence. Through online courses and self-study, he began to explore how AI could revolutionize the way education was delivered. With the help of AI-powered teaching tools, Khomani was able to personalize learning experiences for each of his students, friends, and colleagues, catering to their individual needs and abilities. As Khomani's knowledge and skills in AI grew, so too did his impact on others Especially the students. Test scores improved, engagement soared, and a newfound enthusiasm for learning took root in his classroom. Word of Khomani's success spread quickly, and soon he was invited to share his insights and experiences at education conferences and workshops across the country. But Khomani’s journey didn't stop there. Fueled by his passion for education and his love for AI, he continued to innovate and push the boundaries of what was possible. He developed new teaching methods, designed AI-powered curriculum materials, and even created a platform that connected students in rural communities with resources and opportunities from around the world. Today, Khomani is a leading figure in the education sector, renowned for his groundbreaking work in harnessing the power of AI to transform learning. I just came across Cindy Blackburn’s post referencing Louka Parry’s article about the Future of Education A-Z. Here’s the link https://lnkd.in/eMYzXhMN What I loved was the list of quality aspects of education that Louka provides. For some reason it prompted me to pick a top ten in terms of importance or impact when it comes to student learning. I’d love to see what other people’s top ten look like, partly from an ai hype curve perspective. BTW Gen ai doesn’t make my top ten, not because I don’t thin k it’s important, just because other aspects are more important. Of course I’ll be howled down for speaking such heresy! It is a tricky exercise as many categories overlap, but a good exercise to go nonetheless! Here are the categories (A-Z): Agency Belonging Creativity Discernment Embodiment Flourishing Generative AI Humanistic psychology Inquiry-based learning Joy Kindness Learning intentions Meta-learning Neuroscience OCEAN (Open-mindedness, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness, Neuroticism) Pedagogical core Questioning Relationships Self-determination theory Trans-disciplinary learning Understanding Vitality Wellbeing X (the unknown) Yes (as a default) Zest Here's my TOP TEN, in some kind of priority order, for what it's worth: Agency - Creativity - Kindness - Belonging - Flourishing - Relationships - Understanding - Inquiry-based learning - Discernment - X Over to you ... #education #pedagogy #agency #kindness #creativity

Another international example in which initiatives in education, curriculum, and AI are being explored at the highest level, creating a roadmap for all, and taking everyone along the journey. We need a coherent, informed pathway with a framework in Aotearoa New Zealand, for Digital Literacy, encompassing AI, and all digital tools, and ways to productively, creatively, safely, and ethically engage with them, for all students from the youngest to the most senior. We (our young people and educators) are being left behind under the current landscape, with no overarching vision or intention until possibly 2026 (no guarantees- all considered at the end of 2025 for all other priorities thereafter) and anything 'digital' in education under the current model and priorities. Expertise and knowledge in digital literacies including AI, DTC, online safety, security, and wellbeing are currently shelved, with no sources of funding for schools and kura to have any support in the DT Curriculum, Local Curriculum, etc. where needs exist. When we consider issues of equity, future-ready learners, teacher knowledge and confidence, etc, we can't leave this critical area of professional development and learning for somewhere down the line, without it having impact on current learners and educators. #AI #digitalliteracy #educationequality #nooneleftbehind #digitalsafetyandwellbeing #Educationvision Martin Hughes NZPTA President NZPPTA NZAIMS inc Ministry of Education New Zealand

The Beijing Consensus on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Education, adopted in May 2019, provides the first comprehensive guidance on using AI to achieve the Education 2030 Agenda. It was endorsed by government officials, international representatives, and various stakeholders during the International Conference on AI and Education in Beijing. This Consensus builds on the Qingdao Declaration of 2015, emphasizing the need to harness emerging technologies to meet SDG 4. It highlights that AI can address major educational challenges, innovate teaching practices, and advance SDG 4 goals. Key recommendations include developing AI education policies, using AI for personalized learning, supporting teachers, preparing students for an AI-driven world, and ensuring equitable AI use. UNESCO is tasked with supporting policy-makers, promoting international cooperation, and addressing regional divides in AI development. The Consensus also suggests creating an ‘AI for Education’ platform to provide resources and develop guidelines for effective AI use in education. The goal is to transition from competition to cooperation, guiding actions in leveraging AI to enhance education. UNESCO, 2019.
