🗓 Happening Tomorrow, Wednesday, August 14th, from 17:00 - 18:00 EAT! Our session "Approaches in Delivery: What the Evidence Suggests" at the EAC Conference will feature presentations by Ken Opalo, Shem Bodo and Deborah Kimathi and will be moderated by Baela Jamil. Our presentation will explore key findings from the DeliverEd final report, Deliberate Disruptors: Can Delivery Approaches Deliver Better Education Outcomes?, published in June 2023. This report underscores the necessity of improving performance and policy delivery to achieve the 2030 #SDGs. It translates academic research into practical policy considerations and introduces a framework for launching, learning, sustaining, and scaling delivery approaches. We will also introduce our new Delivery Toolkit, designed to guide countries in implementing these approaches effectively. Key discussion themes will include managing expectations, ensuring sustainability and integration, and addressing challenges. While Delivery Approaches can align stakeholder incentives and harness data effectively, they should be viewed as tools to align goals and focus attention on national priorities, rather than complete solutions to systemic educational issues. Additionally, we will share findings from our Tanzania-specific research to further enrich the discussion on practical implementation and overcoming barriers. 📈 Join us as we explore innovative strategies to advance education delivery and achieve impactful outcomes! #DeliveryToolkit #EducationInnovation #EACConference #QualityEducation #SDGs Association for the Development of Education in Africa (ADEA) Regional Education Learning Initiative- RELI Africa PAL Network

I hope the new UK government enhances relations with #African nations seeking mutual benefit and long-term partnerships. The Labour Government's approach to #Africa should seek to work more creatively with industry to deliver exciting educational collaborations and solid partnerships for growth. "Britain Reconnected https://lnkd.in/eWMGJTPn" #DigitalTransformation: Online education has the potential to deliver greater flexibility and accessibility across the African continent (British International Investment, https://lnkd.in/eYmdujqc). Equal value for Open and Distance Learning degrees remains crucial to that formula. The Nigerian Minister of Education, Professor Tahir Mamman, has said that degrees obtained via ODL should be considered equivalent to those from conventional universities, strengthening the case for expanding ODL systems across Africa (Leadership.ng). In the coming era, Sub-Saharan Africa is expected to account for 90% of the world’s working-age population growth. By 2050, its working-age population will surpass India and China. ( https://lnkd.in/e9D-hj8E). Harnessing this potential requires aligned education, skills and employability outcomes delivered at scale. Central to the future of #TNE is working more closely with African nations, industries, and learning institutions to rethink TNE offerings with the localised context and content curated to solve development challenges and integrate targeted skills acquisition in the national interest. In Q1, I gave a keynote address at the Eduverse Summit in Nigeria on behalf of MSM Unify In hosting the inaugural #EduverseSummit in #Lagos, this summit proactively facilitated ideation and international cooperation to deliver practical solutions. https://lnkd.in/e9B_FprQ LL Sanjay Laul Raghwa Gopal, ICD.D, LL.D Ikenna Mgbakogu Hersha Pandya Suneetha Qureshi Avinav Sharma Chris Elam Chirag Mehta Sobhana (Shob-na) Jaya-Madhavan Anuj Bhasin

🚀 Transforming Education for a Connected World: Africa’s Path Forward In our increasingly interconnected world, educational systems must adapt to prepare students for collaborative and cross-disciplinary challenges. This evolution is vital for addressing Africa's diverse and complex issues, demanding innovative and multifaceted solutions. 🔍 Current Context in Africa: #1. Collaboration and Teamwork: The World Bank reveals that 80% of African educational institutions still rely on traditional rote learning, often missing out on collaborative and interactive experiences. Yet, momentum is building. The 2020 African Higher Education Summit highlighted the urgent need for group-based learning to boost engagement and problem-solving skills. #2. Cross-Disciplinary Thinking: The African Union’s Agenda 2063 stresses integrating cross-disciplinary approaches to tackle major issues like climate change, health crises, and economic development. Despite progress, only 15% of African universities offer structured interdisciplinary courses, compared to over 30% in developed countries. #3. Unified Commitment to Global Challenges: Africa is set to face a 2.5°C temperature rise by 2050, impacting agriculture and water resources. Regional initiatives like the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) demonstrate the continent’s drive towards economic cooperation and integration. #4. Integration of Global Perspectives: The rise of digital platforms like Andela, Udemy, Coursera and Transatlantic School of Management is expanding the e-learning market in Africa. Research shows that 72% of African institutions are embracing online and blended learning to support global collaboration and knowledge sharing. 🌍 Looking Ahead: As Africa deepens its global engagement, it's crucial for educational environments to foster teamwork, embrace cross-disciplinary approaches, and unite in addressing global challenges. By leveraging diverse resources and perspectives, Africa can play a pivotal role in shaping global solutions. #GlobalLearning #TeamworkInEducation #CrossDisciplinaryThinking #InterconnectedWorld #EducationalInnovation #AfricaUnited #FutureFocusedEducation #GlobalChallenges #CollaborativeLearning #LearningForImpact #DigitalLearningAfrica #EducationForChange #AfricaAndTheWorld #GlobalSolutions #InterdisciplinaryApproach #EmpowerThroughEducation #Africa2030 #InnovateAndCollaborate #EducationReformAfrica

Last week I had a great fireside chat at the #EastAfricaHubConvening by The Education Collaborative. I shared my fear and optimism about the future of higher education in Africa. HLIs in Africa still operate in the same way years after technology disruptions. Now, more than ever they need to rethink their approaches. A couple of things need to be reimagined; ✅ Time Spent on Campus ✅ Competency Assessment ✅ The Role of The Lecturer ✅ Pedagogical Approach ✅ Industry Collaboration ✅ Sector Regulation The main question was..how do we design the university of the future when we don't know what the future looks like? My answer was; AGILITY. We need to be flexible to learn and adapt quickly to changes. @VenturesSahara @SparkSahara @SaharaConsult_

Closing the education gap in primary schools in Nigeria can be achieved through the strategic integration of digital tools. Do you know that research by the World Bank (2019) highlights the effectiveness of technology in improving learning outcomes, while UNESCO (2020) emphasizes the importance of equitable access to digital resources. With many fantastic teachers leaving the workforce, we need to step up our digital integration in our classrooms.

Today its International day of Education which is commemorated on January 24th annually. As we commemorate this day my mind is still troubled always thinking how we shall achieve Sustainable development goals. For now I appreciate the efforts of our leaders in Africa towards education but I still believe more needs to be done to ensure that we achieve quality education. Am not sure at which stage we are towards implementation of SDG's 2030 but I want to take your attention also to Agenda 2063 for Africa. (Not sure how many are aware of this). Chapter 4 of Agenda 2063 framework talks about having a well educated citizens with skills centered on technology, innovation and creativity. In this regard the first 10 year implementation plan was developed (2013 - 2023) and thereafter the Education strategy for Africa (2016 - 2025) was also developed. My worry is as the first 10 year implementation plan is over and the period to materialize the education strategy is coming towards the end, there is No or little action or information coming out to evaluate our performance as a continent. This is really making me worried as our dream will be affected if we are not implementing all these plans. Our leaders in Africa needs to check again if what we are doing is in line with SDG 2030 and Africa agenda 2063 objectives otherwise Africa risk loosing out on having a well qualified and competent human resource by 2063 to drive its resources and economy.

🇪🇹Ethiopia: Quality Assurance in Education #Ethiopia is set to make a significant milestone in its #education sector by officially #recognizing educational programs for the first time. This development comes after two years of efforts by the Education Training Authority to establish procedures and guidelines aimed at helping educational institutions re-register and operate effectively. The #recognition of educational programs is expected to not only improve the quality of education but also enhance the #credibility of Ethiopian institutions on a regional and international scale. As universities work towards #accreditation, they will be better positioned to attract students, funding, and partnerships that can further enhance their educational offerings. Ethiopia’s decision to recognize educational programs marks a pivotal moment in its education sector. With the implementation of #quality #audits and #accreditation #processes, the country aims to ensure that its institutions provide high-quality education that meets both local and global standards. This initiative is a significant step towards fostering a more robust educational environment that can contribute to the nation’s development and growth. https://lnkd.in/gc6DbZw9 #qualityassurance #EthiopianEducation #accreditation
