“I was watching an interview of Wayne Carini by SCM contributor Philip Richter. In it, Wayne mentions that this will be his 40th time going to Pebble Beach and Monterey. I’ve been more than 30 times myself and have a secret place to go to that I want to share.” – Keith’s Blog Click here to read more: https://lnkd.in/gqxjZMAD #montereycarweek #magazine #carmagazine #vintagecar #classiccar #carblog #automotiveblog #blog #classiccars #sportscarmarket

QuoteOfTheDay: Day 4 "The most difficult thing is the decision to act, the rest is merely tenacity." - Amelia Earhart Amelia Earhart, a pioneering aviator and a symbol of determination and courage, encapsulates the essence of taking the first step towards achieving our goals. This quote highlights the pivotal moment of decision-making as the most significant hurdle in any endeavor. It's that initial commitment to action that sets everything else in motion. Earhart's words serve as a powerful reminder that once we decide to act, persistence and grit become our guiding forces. Tenacity is what carries us through challenges, obstacles, and setbacks. The act of deciding commits us to a path, and our steadfastness determines our progress along it. Let this inspire us to make those tough decisions, to step out of our comfort zones, and to pursue our aspirations with unwavering resolve. Remember, the journey towards any goal begins with the courage to say "yes" to action. #AmeliaEarhart #DecisionToAct #QuoteOfTheDay #Day4 #Shytov #ChangeForGame by Vlad Shytov

Today we celebrate Charles Richard Patterson, who formed C.R. Patterson & Sons at the onset of the 20th century's Automobile Age. Remarkably, it stands as the only African American-owned and operated car company in history, renowned for producing high-quality carriages. When Charles passed away in 1910, his son Frederick took the reins. Sensing the decline of horse-drawn carriages, Frederick transitioned the business into auto repair in 1913. This experience paved the way for a historic move in 1915 when C.R. Patterson & Sons introduced the Patterson-Greenfield automobile. The vehicle garnered praise for its build quality. Despite initial optimism, the company faced challenges in an era dominated by mass production from larger Detroit-based car manufacturers as well as The Great Depression, which ultimately closed its doors in 1939. While no Patterson-Greenfield automobiles remain today, the legacy of Charles and Frederick Patterson endures, marking a lasting impact not only in African American history but also in the annals of transportation history. #TrailblazingHistory #BlackHistoryMonth #UniGroupCelebrates

History is replete with chance events that change everything. Think the collapse in 1989 of the Berlin Wall and the Soviet Union and the resulting liberation of Eastern Europe. In 1994 we were trying to figure out how to make money in the fire extinguisher wholesale parts business. We failed. But we did, one day, receive a call from a fire equipment distributor asking if we knew anyone who was selling Halon 1301. We did not and told him so. The next day we received a call from a fire equipment distributor asking if we knew anyone who needed to buy Halon 1301. And a light bulb turned on. It’s been said that if you don’t celebrate the milestones, you’re only passing thru time. This year, 2024, Wesco celebrates its 30th anniversary. Over the holidays we took time to ponder this event and reflect on our past. The hundreds of successes. The thousands of failures (We figure we’re batting .333). All resulting in a hardened, resilient specialty company serving the clean agent fire suppression market. And we couldn’t be in a better spot. There is a scene in the movie Top Gun – Maverick, where Maverick (Tom Cruise), after being berated by an Admiral (Ed Harris) is asked why he, after 30 years on the Navy, hadn’t progressed beyond Captain. Maverick’s answer, which should have been the movie’s tagline, was, “I’m where I belong, sir.” That struck us as a fitting response to the question “Where does Wesco fit?” “They’re not a manufacturer”. “They’re not a distributor/installer”. Our answer? We’re where we belong. A heartfelt thank you to everyone, especially our loyal customers, who made this possible. https://lnkd.in/eAjfdXEh

I remember my first one-to-one with Jackie B. Cooper like it was yesterday. This man averaged selling 52 vehicles a month for over 3 years in the small town of Woodruff, South Carolina, with a population of just 5,000! In his renowned automotive training, Jackie never aimed to change what salespeople were already doing. Instead, he sought to complement their existing methods, whether through audio, video, or live stage performances. His goal was simple: make salespeople laugh and learn. Jackie B. Cooper is not just a trainer; he is a legend and, in my opinion, the GOAT of the automotive industry. 🏆👑 #AutomotiveLegend #SalesTraining #JackieBCooper #GOAT #AutomotiveIndustry #SalesSucces #ToddVowell #DisruptMarketing #CarDealers

When it comes to innovation, some of the best products in the world were born thanks to one person and their vision. Sometimes their vision is so far ahead of its time these individuals have to lead their development teams with an iron fist. While this sort of management style is frowned upon today, although it is not entirely absent, products made through passion, pettiness, ruthlessness and narcissism, among other personal traits, evoked the most emotions among their consumers.
