As part of our 2030 Sustainability Strategy, Lecta has taken a further step in our track record with EcoVadis, the world's most trusted provider of business sustainability ratings. We have just begun a new partnership at the Group level to assess sustainable performance throughout our supply chain. Through this partnership, we aim to enhance transparency and accountability in our procurement processes using the strict standards set by EcoVadis’ methodology. Lecta’s suppliers will be evaluated on the four key pillars of sustainable development: environment, labor, business ethics and sustainable procurement. These evaluations will enable us to identify areas for improvement and work closely with our suppliers to drive positive change. This is essential for our goal of delivering the highest quality products while minimizing our impact on the planet and society, as well as ensuring compliance with European Green Deal objectives, one of Lecta’s main commitments. 'The 2025 National Packaging Targets (the 2025 Targets) are supported by Australian industry and government to deliver a sustainable approach to packaging. They apply to all packaging that is made, used, and sold in Australia. The Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation (APCO) is the organisation charged by the government to facilitate the delivery of the 2025 Targets, to be achieved by 31 December 2025. ' Established in 2015 the targets aim to improve product packaging and packaging recovery and make steps towards a circular economy. Although currently, it looks unlikely that the targets will be met by 2025, there has been significant progress towards them. However, more needs to be done to ensure Australia is making considerable progress towards a circular economy. Today, over 100 EU and national associations from the #packaging value chain express their concerns for the risks of #singlemarket fragmentation in the upcoming #PPWR and call for the adoption of a workable legislative framework. Ahead of the #Environment Council next Monday, during which EU ambassadors and Environment Ministers are expected to reach an agreement on the text proposed by the EU2023ES, our industries’ associations urge EU Member States to uphold #singlemarket principles when adopting the General Approach on PPWR. The European packaging value chain remains fully supportive of the timely adoption of an ambitious and implementable EU packaging Regulation, but we need a strong Single Market to lead the transformation to a more #sustainable economy.
