BUSINESS HACK: Designated Meeting Days Why do we insist on running around like chickens, hopping from meeting to meeting to continuously talk about our work instead of scheduling time to actually DO the work? What would happen if a business decided to coordinate its entire staff around 1 or 2 designated meeting days throughout the week? Think of these as "Meeting Mondays" or "Troubleshooting Tuesdays" where the day is specifically reserved for hosting meetings, collaborating as groups, and reviewing performance. Just imagine how much more efficient and effective would we all be as individuals (heck, as an organization!) if we were to commit to a meeting cadence like this. What do you think? Yesterday at Arrows, we deleted all 1:1s and all recurring meetings 📅🔜🗑️ (Well, except for two... ✌️) Late last year, I noticed myself and many of our team members feeling like our schedules were getting too packed. This left less and less space for the deep, focused work... the work that truly moves things forward. Our team is very lean... just 8 people (soon to be 9!). We pride ourselves on doing a lot with very little. To do a lot with very little, you need to really focus on a few priorities that really matter. But you also need focus time to actually execute on those priorities. However, what started happening for us is we had lots of scattered meetings... 1:1s with me, but also lots of recurring meetings with each other that originally had a strong purpose, but that purpose became less clear over time. Every day was full of random one-off meetings that ~felt~ like work, but which often weren't as useful as they could be. They didn't have a clear purpose, an agenda, something specific to work on. Sometimes this is useful... open-ended time is valuable. But too much of it gets in the way of what we care about... just shipping. 🧼 To scale our team's output to where we know it can be, we had to try something drastic—wipe the slate clean. 🧼 As CEO, I felt it was easier for me to make it a mandate than for everybody to awkwardly decide if each meeting was necessary. Better to delete them and start over. As Shareil Nariman asked: "What's the worst that can happen? We just add them all back to the calendar?" So what will we do now? 🙋 When we need help or to talk with someone? We'll just ask for that time when we need it. 📞 When I need a 1:1 with a team member I haven't talked to recently (or vice versa)? I'll just schedule it. 🤝 When we need to collaborate on a specific project? No problem... we'll just ask. 💔 For us, we want to see what breaks and learn what feels missing. Adding is easier than removing. ✌️ So which two meetings did we keep? 1️⃣ Our weekly show & tell / all hands (this is the one meeting with everybody) 2️⃣ Our team kickoffs every Monday (we still felt these were necessary) I'm curious—what would you achieve with more focus time on your calendar?

Safeguarding Your People & Organization: Helping you with Situational Awareness Training, Terrorism Awareness Workshops, Risk Management & Self-Defence Training
Who is drunk on Zoom & Teams meetings. I dont mean on alcohol by the way I mean purely on the volume of online meetings since the start of covid. Yes they are great and have changed the way many do business. But face-to-face meetings still hold great value. Yesterday, we had an inspiring visit to NEST to dive deep into our marketing strategy and analyse the numbers supporting one of my businesses. There’s nothing like a high-value face-to-face meeting to get ideas flowing. As it was quite a way away, it involved another overnight stay which meant another great breakfast. That is always one of the rewards I love for being away from home. NEST Management Ltd Gerard Turvey #BusinessTravel #MarketingSuccess #FaceToFace #GreatBreakfasts

Virtual Assistant | Right Hand Woman to Business Owners and Entre/Solo-preneurs & Busy Individuals, providing personal & business admin support
Back to back? Do you schedule back to back meetings? Working with an array of clients, I notice that some can literally go from meeting to meeting with no breaks. This may work for some but not necessarily all of us. Personally, I need a break between meetings of at least 10 mins to de brief and think about what I need to prepare / focus on for my next meeting. When working with a new client, I will always ask them for their preference on this when managing their calendar. Pass it on, are you a meeting hopper? #adminsupport #virtualassistant
