What is one thing that you geek out about?  It's sad, but I really don't geek out about much. Maybe the Chicago Bears, Cubs, and Blackhawks. I love my Chicago teams, but geeking out is probably a stretch.   What is one way that you unwind?  Either by getting my sweat on (exercising, even though it doesn't show) or fixing something. I'm not super handy, but I enjoy giving it a try and feel really good when it actually works after I tried.   Is there anything you wished would come back into fashion?  Perm's for guys - nevermind, I wouldn't be able to get one anyway.    What celebrity would you like to meet at Starbucks for a cup of coffee?  Howard Stern - please don't judge. I think he does an amazing job interviewing people and is not afraid to ask questions others shy away from.   What is one of your favorite books?   I really don't read fiction but I do enjoy a good business book. One of my favorites is Oren Harari, Break from the Pack. It's about how to compete in a copy cat society and Malcolm Gladwell's, Outliers and What the Dog Saw - lots of short, facsinating stories. Favorite quote?   "A man with one watch knows the time. A man with two is never sure."

My dog and I are doing our morning porch sit, observing holiday decorations. This is a time when putting up decorations is worth the hassle, because there is a reward. There are kids who come home and grandparents who visit and gifts to be opened and food to be eaten. What if we were just told to decorate our homes with no reward? What if no one told us why we were even being asked to do it in the first place? What if there were no clear benefits to the immense effort required? More than likely, we would resist. We would grumble. And the sight of holiday lights would induce rage instead of delight. That is often what happens with change. Leaders demand it. There is no clear why. There are no convincing benefits. There are no rewards other than the leaders’ bonuses being met. Let’s do better. #change #changemanagement #changeleadership #organizationalchange

Today marks 17 years of a cherished Thanksgiving tradition: preparing and serving meals to neighbors facing hardships in our community. This year, the experience carries deeper meaning as I navigate professional transitions after 27+ years at Boeing. This year's story begins with the Burger King apron. When my usual volunteer apron was missing, I visited a local Burger King. After explaining my tradition and how badly I needed the apron this year, the manager smiled and said, "You have to earn it." Minutes later, I was helping pick up trash alongside him—bringing me full circle to where my journey began. He gifted me the apron saying, "Make us proud this year again." As a teenage immigrant making $4.75/hour, that first job at Burger King and apron symbolizes hope. Today, wearing it again reminds me of the perseverance that shaped my journey—from flipping burgers to becoming a Boeing executive managing large programs. While professional achievements matter, this tradition reinforces a deeper truth: true fulfillment comes from serving others. Today, sharing meals with 250+ families experiencing hardship, I'm reminded that life's greatest rewards lie in uplifting people that are less fortunate than me. Though the future holds uncertainties, I'm confident the same resilience and purpose will guide this next chapter.
