We are pleased to be offering EDU567, Adults and Professional Learning in Semester 2! This subject is aimed at school leaders who work with adult educators as learners. The subject investigates and applies theories associated with andragogy and its implications for adult learning. Knowles’ andragogical model is reviewed and compared with a range of alternative theories and models of adult learning. This subject provides educational leaders within Christian schooling an opportunity to critically evaluate and reflect on principles associated with adult learning from within a biblical worldview. They will develop an advanced knowledge in the field of adults as learners, and apply their knowledge to their own educational context. Learning outcomes Student who successfully complete this subject will be able to: Demonstrate knowledge from contemporary research of the theory and practice of adult learning. Critically investigate a range of theories and models of adult learning from a biblically-informed perspective. Articulate the core principles of effective adult learning. Apply principles of andragogy to professional learning practices. Critically reflect on the concepts of choice, control, and biblical wisdom in adult learning.
