Reverse Mentoring. Yea I dropped that uno card! I had the privilege of helping a C-suite individual with their transition from the military today. I may be their junior, but they understood I was the subject matter expert between us and a useful mentor. One thing that strengthens an organizations is being comfortable receiving and giving mentorship upwards. #militarytransition #mentorship #reversementoring

As we celebrate National Mentor Month, it's important to acknowledge the power of mentorship in fostering personal and professional growth. Despite my 25-year military career and 10 years in the defense sector, I never found a formal mentor. While this presented its challenges, I recognize the immense value of mentorship and admire those who have had the guidance and support of a mentor. Although I didn't have a formal mentor, I was fortunate to have my father's wisdom and advice. Nevertheless, I navigated my professional and academic career with determination and resilience. I believe that mentorship is an invaluable resource for learning, development, and support. In honoring this month, I encourage others to seek out mentorship opportunities and to be open to both learning from others and sharing their own experiences. While I may not have had a mentor myself, I understand the transformative power of mentorship and its ability to shape and enrich one's professional journey. Let's celebrate National Mentor Month by acknowledging the significance of mentorship in fostering the growth and success of individuals in all walks of life. Remember, mentorship matters! #mentorship #mentoring #mentorshipmatters

On GCSE results day, I'm reminded of the impact mentoring through The Girls' Network can have, both mentee & mentor. This morning, the first thing on my mind was to check in with my mentee, even though our 12 months of mentoring came to an end in Spring. To join with her in joy at her fabulous results & the excitement of her next steps on her journey! If you're female & can commit an hour each month for 12 months, I'd recommend checking out The Girls Network. #mentoring
