Revenue is a team sport. Ninety's Business Development team held our Annual Planning meeting yesterday and it was time to investigate some team health issues. We broke out Patrick Lencioni's 5 Dysfunctions of a Team and explored where our team isn't the healthiest (internally and cross functionally). We recognized our team was challenged around "inattention to results". When you have a team full of highly autonomous, big vision Rainmakers, individualistic behavior can easily take over. This is a problem when building an extraordinarily productive, humane and resilient company is a team sport. Revenue is a team sport. The culture we've built at Ninety allowed us to be open, honest and vulnerable to the point where we could clear the air, feel deeply connected and sync on new expectations and agreements. That's a damn good place to be. Yea, we set Rocks and all that, but making sure our team was healthy...that was the magic of the day.
