Recruitment was very different in 1997.   Let’s get into it:   Back then, we had no tools.   We had a telephone and a phonebook.   If we were lucky, perhaps a light Database and Applicant Tracking System.   But technology changed everything.   Now, we have powerful tools at our disposal with live information at our fingertips.   It doesn’t necessarily make our jobs easier, but we certainly have more options.   Having been in both worlds, I can see the advantages and disadvantages of the shift:   Advantage: ✅ We are so well equipped and can place anyone, anywhere.   Disadvantage: ❌ Access to brilliant technology can make *some* recruiters lazy.   And that’s not a reputation we want our industry to have.   Like anything, the advances we’ve made in the modern world should be taken to enhance our roles and our lives.   Not replace them.   Who else remembers their industry in the 90s?
