No one likes drinking alone. And the busier your taproom, the more each guest will spend. We analyzed thousands of taproom visits to see how the perceived level of busyness correlates to how much guests spend. Guests spent 38% more in packed taprooms compared to empty taprooms from 2017 to 2022. At one point, it was simply about the beer. Then the word 'experience' crept in. 'Experience' refers to every little aspect that contributes to a guest having a more memorable time. Their experience could be enhanced by something as basic as the music playing or something as extravagant as a decked-out anniversary celebration. See how by consistently facilitating and delivering these wow moments, you can see a busier taproom with higher tabs and more smiles.

We live in a world in which everything from music concerts to restaurants are over-produced. We just came back from Las Vegas seeing Adele. The show begins with a back-up piano growing to a back-up group growing to a back-up mini-orchestra. Lights, fancy staging, a sound system with much too much bass, stuff (including small hearts) falling from the ceiling, etc. In this restaurant review, the reviewer asks the question of whether these places--that are on the World's 50 best list--serve food that people would actually want to eat. Sometimes, in food, music, movies, etc., less is more. Japanese culture recognizes this in many ways. Meanwhile, the trip to Vegas brought back memories of seeing Chuck Berry and Little Richard in venues where you could see and hear them and not be distracted with sound and light shows and stuff falling from the ceiling. #Adele #concerts #LasVegas #music #restaurants #bestlists #Japan

Drinks Business Educator | Search Manager at Distill Ventures | Beverage Alcohol Start-Up Advisor | Wine & Spirit Sales Trainer
It's been a joy to follow the journey of Justin Fenchel and his co-founders at BeatBox. Even though they appeared on Shark Tank a decade ago, success was not preordained. Making wine for fun and profit. Is that an oxymoron? The answer may just depend on how you define wine. In Ep 37 of the Business of Drinks podcast, we bring to the table Exhibit A: BeatBox. We talk with Justin Fenchel, a co-founder and the CEO of BeatBox. It’s an 11% alcohol, wine-based RTD party punch in flavors like blue raspberry, pink lemonade, and fruit punch. Now BeatBox is far from a traditional wine company — its products are largely made from orange wine, meaning wine made from the actual orange fruit, which turns out to be a really great neutral alcohol base for RTDs. But boy, are they bringing the fun. These drinks are positioned in resealable 500 ml Tetra Paks, making them ideal for social gatherings like music festivals, house parties, beach bonfires, you name it. But really, what do we love talking about on BOD? Bringing home the Benjamins! And BeatBox has that down. The brand did an astounding $100 Million in sales last year, moving some 4.6 million 12-pack cases. And they’re on track to double their sales this year. How'd they do it? #Positioning April Dunford on how positioning shapes our #relationship with something: “I was on my way to work, and I went to Tim Hortons coffee shop in Canada. I’m standing in line and the guy in front of me is ordering breakfast. It’s 8:00 AM, and he orders this thing which is a double chocolate salted caramel muffin. And I was like, “That is some #genius #marketing stuff right there.” I’ve got a piece of cake, it is double chocolate caramel #cake, but if I put it in the #muffin format and I call it a muffin, everything about that is different. The whole #context around it is different. It is socially acceptable to order double chocolate caramel whatever if you say it’s a muffin, because I’m now #comparing it differently. If I said it was cake, what’s cake? Cake #competes with other things that are like #dessert. It competes with ice cream and tiramisu and other things you would order for dessert. What does cake cost? Well, if you’re in a restaurant, it’s $10, $15. Where do I get it? I might go to a bakery, but I get it at a restaurant, too. When I’m talking about a muffin, well, [a] muffin’s totally different. A muffin’s breakfast. It competes with a bagel and a donut. What do I charge for a muffin? I charge $1, $2 for a muffin. The whole context around it is different. The product, however, is the same. That thing that you’re eating is a piece of cake, whether it’s in cake form or muffin form. I can choose to position it as a muffin. It’s the same #product, but the #assumptions about that… The #competitors are different; your #value is different; the assumptions that #customers have about that product are different because I’ve placed it in a different context." The entire conversation is worth a listen or listen to the start of the excerpt above. The Marketing Expert: How to Get More Sales, Loyal Customers, and Bigger Promotions https://lnkd.in/djZb3d5r

Reminder of God Making one of my favorite recipes tonight! Jaques Pepin’s roasted chicken. The ingredients are one 3.5 pound chicken, ¼ teaspoon of salt, ¼ teaspoon of pepper, and 1 teaspoon of virgin olive oil. That’s it. And it is the tastiest bird I’ve ever had! Here’s a link to his video-- Classic Roast Chicken Ultimate Guide | Jacques Pépin Cooking at Home | KQED (youtube.com) Oh, I’ve tried adding things to it, herbs and/or bacon under the skin, garlic butter, You name it, but it lessened the appeal, the flavor. The beauty, the elegance of the recipe and the flavors are in the simplicity. I hang around with some very talented culinarians. One of my buddies, a Jame Beard award winning chef, told me that he was heading on a month-long research trip to Thailand. I replied “Bangkok? Chiang Mai, Pak Kret?” He replied “No way. I’m visiting villages under ten thousand people. Peasants get the best food. They understand the intensity of flavor in simplicity.” The intensity of flavor in simplicity. Our faith is like that as well. James 2:23 “And the scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,” and he was called God’s friend.” Faith. The simplicity of believing God. Abraham believed God and it was credited to him as righteousness. Abraham believed God. Then in the Old Testament, 613 laws were added. The came the Pharisees, who added 1,500 more. Are we any better? The Christian faith is believing that God loved this world enough to send His Son, who lived without error, yet was crucified, paying the cost for our sin. We place our faith in Him, and we are forgiven. But then we add rules and regs, because we like to keep score. Sin, remember, is simply falling short of the glory of God. When, in the best time of my life have I ever reached the glory of God? No, we need to keep the recipe simple, elegant, not try to add anything to the flavors that God has set forth. Believing God, having that reckoned to us as righteousness. There is an intensity of flavor in the simplicity… Gotta run, time to pre-heat the oven. Grace and Peace, Ted
