As a new season begins, for #wiganwarriors today I feel ready for all the highs and lows that will come with it. I have always been keen for my children to participate in sport, and support Rugby League / Football with us. I wanted to share our love for the game with them but also everything that sport teaches you. When young, you don't think about the life skills you are learning with every win or loss. It’s like being part of a big family. When the team are behind, you become vocal and cheer them on to lift them up. There is no greater feeling than the come back win! It's teaching us that when things aren’t going as planned, we have the power within us to turn that around. All we need is a little bit of support. Having said that, on another day the comeback just doesn’t happen, no matter how hard we try. This is the biggest lesson of all - the loss. It’s that overwhelming sad feeling when you have given your all, but lost anyway. The disappointment is overbearing but somehow you pick yourself up and you go again next week. That’s resilience. Then there’s commitment. Whether it be turning up to training week in week out or buying a season ticket and watching your team week in week out. You have made a decision that you will do that and sometimes that means showing up even when you don’t feel like it. Which leads me onto how my love for sport has got me through difficult periods in my life. It's sometimes been a welcome distraction to concentrate on something other than what is happening in that moment. It’s a constant comfort that’s with you forever. One of the best feelings is the win. That euphoria and sense of reward . It’s ultimately teaching us that consistency and hard work are worthwhile. It also teaches us about goals and continuous improvement. Once you have experienced the win you want more. There is always something greater to achieve. Sport is amazing in so many ways and list could go on and on. I would love to hear your stories about sport and any lessons in life it has taught you. #wiganwarriors #manchesterunited #rugbyleague #football #sport #lifelessons# #teamwork

🏅 I've been an Olympics enthusiast since Sydney 2000 (the first I remember)! The excitement of watching elite athletes come together to compete for Olympic Gold, especially in team sports, is unmatched. 🥇 At Slalom, my team and I have developed a new model of team effectiveness, and I'm thrilled to share it with you over the next week. Each day, I'll highlight one of our five key elements of effective teams, using examples from different Olympic sports. 🌟 Let's kick things off with the first element: Focused on Relationships. 🤝 I first learned about beach volleyball in the 2004 Olympics, watching Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh Jennings dominate the sport for three consecutive gold medals. 🏐 In beach volleyball, success hinges on strong relationships. Each player's ability to anticipate their teammates' moves, communicate seamlessly, and trust one another is crucial. Just like gold-medal beach volleyball teams, effective teams build from psychological safety, foster trust and facilitate effective communication 💬 Stay tuned for more insights on how Olympic teams exemplify our model of team effectiveness! 🏆 #TeamEffectiveness #Volleyball #Olympics #Teamwork

What does it feel like when sales and marketing are properly aligned? It feels a lot like how Tara Davis-Woodhall and Hunter Woodhall probably feel after both winning gold at the Olympics and Paralympics. It's the joy of shared success, originating from independent activities but striving for - and achieving - the same goal. It's looking beyond individual results and embracing the collective success of the whole; it's celebrating wins together, and recovering from losses together. One team. Many parts. One goal. #mentorgroup #paralympics #olympics #salestraining #salesleaders #success

Businesses are like olympic races. When we’re playing, we should never celebrate early and when we win we should never celebrate too, long (becuse we need to prepare for the next game). But most importantly, only those who set goals and act on those goals can expect to win. #leadingwhereyouare #leadingwithapurpose #leadershiponfire
