In my view, there are several clear, palpable drivers of growth and maturation of this specialist sector:
1) Heavily increasing demand from customers to experience new, innovative leisure activities and facilities
2) Considerable availability of obsolete, traditional retail and hospitality premises, ripe for re-positioning and re-purposing
3) Huge swell of investor demand and fund availability for further exposure to 'alternative sectors', diversifying away from the traditional, vanilla office/industrial/retail domination
In short, the UK’s ‘Big 6’ regional markets, including Glasgow and Edinburgh, are demonstrating exciting growth in this sector.
