#novumcapitalpartners Since the 10th of July, the date we identify with the start of the sector rotation, the S&P 500 has only lost 2.80%. But this does not mean that there are no significant movements taking place in the stock market. The sector decomposition speaks for itself. Defensive sectors and those that would benefit from a Trump victory (financials, energy, and industrials) are going up. These are joined by small caps, which are gaining 10%. The others, led by technology, are showing significant losses. It is possible that this rotation, however violent, will not result in a further correction of the S&P 500. Much will depend on the Fed's attitude (starting with tomorrow's meeting)... Wall Street investors who diversified their portfolios are now lagging behind those who solely invested in the S&P 500, leading to a "bear market in diversification." Despite historical underperformance, some experts still advocate for diversification as a long-term strategy. The dominance of US stocks and challenges with traditional asset allocation strategies have caused doubts among investors. Financial advisers face difficulties convincing clients to stick with diversified portfolios amidst the Big Tech rally. The shift towards alternative assets like private equity is noted as a way to boost performance. #Investing #Diversification #StockMarket #AssetAllocation #SP500 #FinancialAdvisors #PrivateEquity #USStocks #PortfolioManagement Source: Bloomberg, ChatGPT https://lnkd.in/e4M8Yr9J

What should investors keep in mind when eyeing opportunities in private markets? One concern is the high level of concentration, with 34% of the S&P 500 represented by just 10 stocks trading at 40-50x P/E ratios. The second is indexation (and in turn, the rise of passive investing). “Almost 60% of managed funds in public equity markets today are managed by index funds,” says Eric Hanno, CFA , Apollo Global Management, Inc. in his interview with Sara Allen, Livewire Markets.
