There are many of our community looking for their next role. Once you land that perfect role, your next challenge will be to successfully onboard. There are are a few things to keep in mind. 1) You will never have as much attention on you as you do when you start a new role. It is like parents with a new baby. 2) Share some of that limelight with your colleagues. When you are praised for new ideas, include your co-workers. "Krista was the one who actually gave me the idea to update customers with this information" 3) Make an effort to understand how other functional areas work and the responsibilities of your fellow team members. These tips will serve you well in the years to come in your new role. P.S. I have landed two different roles with recommendations from former colleagues.

Subway Options 🥖🥪.... Today, the majority of the office were munching on Subway sandwiches, a tempting lunchtime meal for many. Yet, amidst the multitude of options, I found myself thinking about the concept of choice – a common thread that weaves through both lunchtime decisions and life's larger dilemmas. As an internal recruiter, I'm no stranger to the many paths individuals navigate in their careers. Just like selecting toppings for a sandwich, choosing the right job opportunity can be overwhelming. Do you stick to the familiar or try something new? In the midst of this Subway spread, it dawned on me: life presents us with choices, big and small. Whether it's crafting the perfect sandwich or seeking fulfillment in your career, the decision-making process can be daunting. But unlike at Subway, where you're left to navigate the options alone, I'm here to guide you 😁. At Albion Rye Associates, I'm committed to helping you find the perfect fit – a role that aligns with your skills, passions, and ambitions. Just as I assist in matching the right ingredients to create a delicious sandwich, I'm dedicated to pairing you with opportunities that resonate with your professional aspirations. So, whether you prefer to stick with the tried and true or embrace the thrill of something new, remember that you're not alone in your journey. Sometimes I'm very thankful for the jobs I've done in the past... We were all-set to move into our new house a couple of weeks ago when the housebuilder went into administration. It felt like a bit of a bombshell when we heard on STV News on the Monday evening, and it's been an uncertain couple of weeks, that's for sure! However, a few speedbumps in my career when heading through changes have probably helped me get my head back in gear and back in the right place. I've not felt like this since we couldn't work out how to fill up Grimsby Extra when Tesco did their first split opening there and our systems didn't like it. Or when we had to airlift food into Shetland when the boats didn't run before Christmas. Or when we had to move quickly when the PM decided to stop Italians coming into the UK the weekend before our first camp coming out of COViD in 2020. Each time we got our heads up and focused on what we could do and were going to do, rather than getting bogged down around what we couldn't or weren't. Choosing your attitude in difficult times is very important for your own wellbeing and that of those around you. Life is full of setbacks and speedbumps. They're just opportunities to bounce up and bounce forwards, and to learn. It's been a good day off so far and a bit of time to focus on Plan B and a busy weekend ahead! #Intention #Behaviour #Outcomes #Event #Mindtalk #Response #Mindset #Impact #OnwardsAndUpwards

Breaking News: Opportunities Don’t Knock Twice You ever noticed how opportunities at work are like that last slice of pizza at a team meeting? If you hesitate, someone else grabs it and you're stuck pretending you're fine with salad. 🙄 “Well, I’m just waiting for the right time,” you say, while Karen from Accounting has already signed up for three projects, a training course, and somehow got promoted... twice. Meanwhile, you’re still contemplating whether to send that email. Fact is: Opportunities are sneaky. They don’t come with neon signs or confetti cannons. They show up disguised as extra work or "challenges" and before you know it, someone else grabbed them and turned them into their next LinkedIn flex. 💼✨ So, stop “waiting” and start grabbing. Or hey, keep waiting... I’m sure that comfy corner of mediocrity looks super inviting. 😏 #GrabItOrRegretIt #OpportunityKnocks #CareerGrowth #MakeItHappen #TakeTheLeap #OfficeLife #ProcrastinationProblems #AmbitionUnleashed #WorkplaceWisdom #NoMoreWaiting #DontBeThatGuy #OwnYourSuccess

Imagine being hired as a chef and then asking your client, “What’s for dinner?” That’s not why they brought you on board! They hired you to figure it out and create something amazing. The same applies when you’re hired for a job. Your employer or client brought you in because of your expertise, creativity, and ability to solve problems. Don’t ask them what to do—show them your value by delivering solutions and innovative ideas. Take the lead, showcase your skills, and prove why you’re the right person for the job. #CareerAdvice #ProfessionalDevelopment #TakeTheLead #JobSuccess #ShowYourValue

🕒 "DO YOUR ADMIN!" 😡 Do you recall the voice of your first team leader reminding you to stay on top of admin tasks after your initial slip-up in the working world? It's a memory that sticks! I've pondered ways to streamline my admin tasks to avoid the notorious summer lull. However, in recruitment, there's no one-size-fits-all solution. I admire those who tackle admin first thing in the morning or before signing off for the day. Personally, I find Friday mornings ideal for reflection, data analysis, and setting the stage for the upcoming week. Recruiters, when do you believe is the optimal time to tackle admin duties? 🤔 P.S If you're not a recruiter and fancy a job working for Trayport where the Talent Partner's talk about admin in so much depth... then check out our careers page in the comments

It’s easy to think we understand our users when we’re looking at data from afar, but the real insights come when we step into their world. Back when I was working at Sary, we struggled at the beginning to understand why our drivers and warehouse workers weren’t adopting the systems as we had expected. Working remotely, it seemed like they just needed more encouragement. But then we decided to spend time with them, doing on-the-job training, visiting warehouses, and seeing firsthand the work they do every day. What we discovered was eye-opening. Their work was tough, demanding, and full of responsibility. The system we had designed wasn’t making their jobs easier; it was adding complexity. It wasn’t about pushing them harder to use the system; it was about creating a product that genuinely met their needs. That’s when we realized – if the customer isn’t using the app or enjoying the service, it’s not on them, it’s on us. We didn’t push the quality bar high enough. Empathy isn’t just about understanding; it’s about truly connecting with our users and using those insights to build better products.

👻🎄GHOSTS OF CHRISTMAS PRESENT … Hey, Harry: I’ve been told I’m a finalist for two roles. Both told me this ten days ago, but it’s been pretty quiet since. Does your experience tell you I’m being ghosted, or is it just holiday delays with people’s schedules? 🔥 MY HOT TAKE: Ask yourself the following: 1/ What exactly does each company DO, and how exactly does it make money? 2/ What exactly will you DO in the position, and how exactly will you help the company make money? 3/ Who is doing the job NOW, and what specifically happens if the position remains unfilled? 🟥 If there’s a very clear connection between number 1 and 2, and the company is likely to take a cash flow hit to the extent that the position is not filled — then the delay is just holiday related. 🍻 to share …

Yesterday we officially sent off Nghi Dang to her new adventures in style. Our team shares a wicked sense of humor so this attire was an absolute must, especially since this was our reaction when we heard the news. 😂 Everyone talks about onboarding journeys and employee roadmaps (especially me since they are so important) but what about departing journeys? Eventually they could be the most important ones because it’s such an exciting step to take for employees! Leaving one safe haven for a new adventure. So what I, with this recent opportunity, started to do is creating an experience for those who are leaving my team. It’s the chance to show how valued they were by the team and the entire company. Plus adding in that team-specific humor that everyone shared over the past years just makes it fun for everyone to let someone go. And why stop at the last official work day. We didn’t. We hijacked Nghi out of her new work to join our local team’s Christmas dinner which now served also as our opportunity to personally wish her all the best, reminiscence together in happy memories, celebrate all the team and individual successes, and to simply enjoy each others company in this oh so familiar team one last time (for now…we will continue also in the future to share some updates and laughs among us). Happy experiences! Happy Christmas season! Any ideas what WTF could stand for apart from the obvious? Comment! I go first - WTF - why the fries? 🍟 First thing that came to my mind, Juudit Ojansivu, I wonder why... #teamspirit #newjob #teamleadership #experiencedesign
