"What is the first word that comes to mind that best describe the TX team or culture? Flexible: The company culture is incredibly flexible. There are no hard requirements regarding time to report to the office, or remote/hybrid/in-person, as long as the work is done and goals are achieved. This allows many of the employees to work at a time that is best for their lifestyle. In addition, the start-up phase of the company means the directives by project can vary quite a lot from week to week, sometimes the vision for a project can pivot; the team is really good at adjusting the workflow and being flexible to match the direction of the vision." Check out the full blog review here: https://lnkd.in/gBDHMuhh Thanks to Sophia Cheung for her contribution and work during her internship at TX last summer. Also thanks to the support from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and in particular the MIT-Japan Program (Christine Pilcavage)

Today marked the end of my 11 week internship at Ally, and I proudly say that each day came with its own challenges, triumphs, and learning moments. I had the privilege of working in the Natural Language group on the Quantitative Modeling and Analytics team, where I got to collaborate with one of our business lines to create a data science solution tailored to their needs. My manager Zhuo Cheng recognized my enthusiasm for learning and allowed me to drive the project (while acting as a resource and guide). The project had great success, and I gained extensive knowledge about GenAI’s use cases in banking (and even more about the evolving regulatory processes surrounding it). I was thrilled to be able to share my experiences and triumphs with Scott Richardson and Sathish M. alongside my peers! In my final presentation, I highlighted two key learnings from my internship: 1: Data curation and preprocessing is by far the most essential part of any data science project. While many of the incredible tools data scientists have at their disposal appear to work like magic, their mileage goes only as far as the data being used allows it to go. As the saying goes, “Garbage in, garbage out.” 2: Building a solution for stakeholders is an iterative process. Rome wasn’t built in a day, and I can assure you that my solution wasn’t either!! 😅 Developing a successful data science solution requires continuous back-and-forth communication. Understanding the goal, exploring possible approaches, discussing limitations, and refining the solution are all part of the process. Every step allows both the data scientist and the stakeholder to get one step closer to understanding how they can best work together to accomplish their goals, and it can be a valuable opportunity for both parties to learn from each other. I want to thank Jie Nissel, PhD, Adam Florence, and Zhuo Cheng for their mentorship and advice this summer. Special thanks to Susan Rathbun for helping me improve my ping pong skills and Haakon Schriefer for sharing my enthusiasm for EA College Football 25 :)
