Please share. Our vets and civilians all need help due to the mental health pandemic which increased during the pandemic. Western medicine model is insufficient as we need a somatic and integrative medicine approach to not only address the mind but also the body where repressed emotions and memories as well as the spiritual connection are missing as we all feel disconnected and divided. #psychedelics #veterans #suicide #depression #integrativepsychotherapy
Veterans, your presence is powerful and your voices are crucial. Join us in person on The Hill as we fight for the approval of MDMA-Assisted Therapy (MDMA-AT) for PTSD. This is our moment to unite and make a difference. The FDA’s decision is imminent, and we need to show our strength and solidarity.Let’s come together to be heard. It’s time for the FDA to see the faces behind the statistics and understand the urgency of this treatment. Your participation can help change the course for countless veterans suffering from PTSD. Join us, hold signs, carry dog tags symbolizing the veterans we lose each day, and stand in unity as we walk to an art installation representing the veterans we’ve lost to suicide.Your voice matters. Be there. Be heard. Be part of the change. For those who can't join in person, there will be a livestream on Heroic Hearts Project's YouTube #veterans #mentalhealth #veteranmentalhealth #traumarecovery #suicideprevention #psychedelicassistedtherapy #MDMA4PTSD https://lnkd.in/ge98NjCS

Our military veterans have made immense sacrifices, facing situations that can leave lasting emotional and psychological impacts. Understanding the trauma they may carry is crucial in providing the support they deserve. Here’s why learning about their trauma is essential: Promoting Healing: Trauma-informed care helps create an environment where veterans feel safe to express their feelings and experiences. Understanding their trauma can guide us in offering the right support, promoting healing and recovery. Building Empathy: By learning about the challenges veterans face, we can develop deeper empathy and respect for their experiences. This empathy is vital in fostering meaningful connections and showing veterans that they are not alone. Enhancing Support Networks: Knowledge about trauma can empower families, friends, and communities to offer more effective support. This can include recognizing signs of PTSD, knowing how to respond during difficult times, and providing a steady source of encouragement. Reducing Stigma: Open conversations about trauma and mental health can help reduce the stigma often associated with these issues. This encourages veterans to seek help and share their experiences without fear of judgment. Informing Policy and Advocacy: Understanding the trauma veterans endure can inform policies and advocacy efforts aimed at improving mental health services, employment opportunities, and overall quality of life for veterans. Creating a Supportive Environment: A trauma-informed approach in workplaces, schools, and communities ensures that veterans feel understood and supported in their civilian lives. This contributes to their overall well-being and successful reintegration into society. Our veterans have given so much; it’s our turn to give back by learning about their experiences and being there for them in meaningful ways. Acknowledging and understanding their trauma is a crucial step in providing the compassionate support they need to heal and thrive. #VeteranSupport #TraumaAwareness #PTSDSupport #MilitaryMentalHealth #VeteranCare #SupportOurVeterans #HealingTogether #VeteranTrauma #UnderstandingVeterans #MentalHealthAwareness #EndTheStigma #VeteranCommunity #CompassionateCare #VeteranAdvocacy #TraumaInformedCare #HonorOurHeroes #ViviHealth

Excited to share that Juliana Scheihing & I's poster was accepted at #SRS2024. Our work at the Rocky Mountain MIRECC for Suicide Prevention is important in supporting the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs' mission "to care for those 'who shall have borne the battle' and for their families, caregivers and survivors." Our poster focuses on the experiences of Veterans who are eligible and ineligible for VA care, which in turn will (hopefully) continue to expand VA care to additional Veterans in need. Suicide is a challenging topic to discuss, but it is imperative that we break down the stigma around suicide and mental health as a whole.
