Why are so many men eager to relocate to Indonesia? 🌴✨ It's not just about career growth and market potential, is it? 🤔 Men, let's be honest – the allure isn't just economic. It's the exotic appeal of Indonesian women that truly captivates. 💖😍 Sure, Indonesia's on the rise. But let's not kid ourselves. If it’s global market connectivity you’re after, look towards Singapore, Thailand, or Malaysia. Yet, these men remain undeterred, their eyes fixed on Jakarta, driven by personal thrills masked as professional ambitions. Before you pack your bags for Jakarta, ask yourself: are you pursuing professional growth or a personal fantasy? 🌺 The allure of the "exotic" might just be clouding your career judgment. #indonesia #career #growth #expat #careeradvice #expatlife #careergrowth

While still in nascent phase, I think you need to add Vietnam to list of SEA countries with real potential tapping into global market. Indonesia really need to step up her pace and be wary of growth spurt of Vietnamese economic ambition. Otherwise we will get trapped in vicious cycle of domestic champion only or colloquially known as "jago kandang" We can't always benefitted from demographic bonus only, sooner or later that phase will fade out

Interesting piece here Leigh McKiernon, didn't realize this was prevalent here. Seen it before in Philippines, Japan etc cetera, but outside maybe the Bali microcosm, never thought Jakarta/Indonesia also is part of the greater picture.

I went to Indonesia for 2 years contract and spent over 25 years basically due to the cultural compatibility, friendly and supportive nature of Indonesians.

On the big picture, you go to Indonesia as an expat paid with USD. You exchange it into IDR and voila your income is as big as a middle size entrepreneur. If they go back to their country, with those money they would only be a "ordinary" citizen. While in Indonesia those value of money can make you considered as a "extraordinary" citizen. Life as a king in Indonesia or life as a normal guy in your country. Maybe that is the big reason, and "exotic" is just part of privilege as an "extraordinary" citizen :)
