When I talk about codependency and people-pleasing, my experience doesn’t just come from years of client work... I was a codependent, people pleaser too. We don’t have to be people pleasers or “fixers” to earn love—but, when we live like that, we don’t know what else is true! So, what do we need to do? It’s critical to begin rebuilding a sense of self to move away from dependence on others for our identity. We can do this by tapping into our truest, deepest sense of who we are—our inner child. By doing inner child work to reconnect with that precious part of ourselves, we can start to remember our original identity.
