👷🏻 👷🏻♀️ WOICE and YPC organised TKO-LTT project site walk Our internal network Women in Construction & Engineering (WOICE) Group and Young Professional Club (YPC) organised a site walk at our award-winning Tseung Kwan O – Lam Tin Tunnel (TKO-LTT) project. 🏗 Attendees learned about the technical and logistical challenges the project team has overcome in the densely populated environment of the project, as well as construction methodologies adopted to cater to the site constraints, for example, a temporary traffic deck was used throughout the excavation works. The TKO-LTT project showcases our outstanding achievements in safe project delivery and continuous innovation. It has also successfully alleviated traffic congestion 🚥 in the Kwun Tong district and an existing tunnel in Tseung Kwan O as well as at other major roads in the eastern Kowloon since its opening. #LeightonAsia #womeninconstruction #WOICE #TKOLTT #Innovation #HongKong

Cutting trees is an unavoidable aspect of railway infrastructure construction, particularly in forested areas. To better protect natural habitats, environmental experts from the ECRL project and the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources collaborated to refine the railway alignment. In dense forested regions, tunnels were proposed to minimize deforestation. By incorporating tunneling and optimizing the design, the project successfully reduced forest land usage by 90%, cutting the initial forecast of 2,000 hectares of forest loss down to 276 hectares. Annabelle Lee (2021) mentioned that the construction in Selangor is expected to result in an 11.5-hectare forest loss for the ECRL project. Examples of tunnels in Selangor include Serendah Tunnel 1, Serendah Tunnel 2, and Gombak Tunnel. #railwaysustainable

Getting to Jurong Innovation District (JID) will soon be quicker, thanks to a 110m-long pedestrian overhead bridge that will significantly enhance connectivity to the advanced manufacturing hub. Now under construction, this bridge will provide over 63,000 Jurong West residents with convenient access to Nanyang Technological University Singapore, while also linking Jurong Eco-Garden, Jurong West, the future MRT station at CleanTech Park, and JID. Notably, it is the first overhead bridge in Jurong West to feature dedicated walking and cycling paths, connecting with the Round Island Route park connector. This project aims to improve connectivity between residents and the district, reducing travel time by almost 35 minutes. Despite facing various challenges during construction, the ongoing development of this bridge marks a significant milestone in enhancing connectivity and accessibility within JID. 🚧 Project Update: Northern Corridor Development 🚧 We are excited to share that the Momase Project, officially known as the Preparation of the Feasibility Study and Detailed Engineering Design for the Northern Corridor (Momase International Highway) between Wutung and Angoram, and Vanimo and Wewak Ports (NPC/2020 – 28) is well underway! This crucial project funded by the Asian Development Bank covers the 440-kilometer stretch from the PNG/Indonesian border at Wutung near Vanimo to Wewak, and includes the upgrading of Vanimo and Wewak ports. This corridor is set to play a pivotal role in boosting economic growth along the northern coast of Papua New Guinea. Recently, our consulting team held a successful workshop, this time presenting invaluable results from the feasibility study conducted by the joint venture (Finnish Overseas Consultants (FinnOC) / DOHWA Engineering / SOOSUNG Engineering Co., Ltd.). Our findings suggest that the Project is economically highly viable. The insights and feedback received from our stakeholders are instrumental as we refine our plans and move towards designing the new corridor, the total construction costs of which are estimated to be 1.5 billion USD. This is how the "Pingtang" bridge was built, which has the largest concrete tower in the world, in Guizhou, China 🇨🇳... It is about 2,135 meters long and crosses through a canyon, making it an important connection point for the Pingtang-Luodian highway. The construction of the work had a total cost of 1.5 billion yuan (about 215 million dollars). The commissioning of the bridge will reduce the travel time between Pingtang and Luodian from more than two and a half hours to about one hour. The new infrastructure will help reduce poverty in the rocky and desertified areas of Guizhou and neighboring Yunnan province, as well as in the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region...
