The Capital Cities & Regions Network (#CCRN) workshop on smart and sustainable growth is underway at the European Committee of the Regions! 💡 We had the opportunity to hear inspiring presentations directly from regions and cities, where the work of building a sustainable future is happening. Thank you for your insightful contributions: •Juraj Droba, President of the Bratislava Region, on how metropolitan regions drive positive change. • Sjaak Kruis, Deputy Mayor of Lelystad, on accelerating the circular economy to tackle housing shortages. • Emma Blain, Councillor of Dublin City Council, on smart city projects. • Johanna Laisaari, Deputy Mayor of Helsinki, who shared with us the insights about strategic vision How Helsinki will learn in the future and the needed future skills. Thanks also to Brussels and Prague for your video contributions! ✅ As mentioned during the workshop, the more locally cohesion funds are managed, the more effective they become, creating solutions and innovations that drive sustainable and smart growth while addressing the challenges of our time. We heard excellent practical examples from fields such as #mobility, #housing, and #education that are being developed in regions and cities. Let’s ensure that cohesion policy works effectively to support innovations and solutions that benefit the whole of the EU as we work towards a sustainable future. Call for Innovation Transfer Networks open from 10 January to 20 March 2024 Innovation Transfer Networks will be formed along the topics of Urban Innovative Actions (UIA) projects that have been implemented from 2016 to 2023. Cities that have implemented a UIA project will act as Lead Partners by default.    Cities and public-equivalent bodies from European Union's 27 Member States, Partner States (Norway, Switzeland), as well as cities from countries benefitting from the Instrument for Pre-Accession to the EU (Albania, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia), willing to transfer the experience and know how of a UIA project should go to the URBACT Partner Search Tool (see below) and express their interest to the city that has implemented a UIA project. https://lnkd.in/eNrnUdX3 AVITEM / URBACT

Building Tomorrow, Today Cities across Europe are planning to develop new urban districts to ambitious standards previously unseen. The ambitions are needed, yet complex; the districts aim not only to be low carbon, but also to create social value and live up to a range of ESG targets.
