If you were a hiring manager would you hire the first person with skills you want? After just a short experience of 1 year of hiring, I would give you a resounding "NO". Especially in the industry that I am recruiting for. Hello #Brunei You may or may not know that I am building a team of financial planners. And why I say I don't look for skills is simple; I can train the skills. What I am looking for is attitude. I know, it's intangible and how the heck can you add it in to your CV? And to be honest, you can't. However, we have ways to scope you out 👀 You see, as we engage people around us, we leave traces and memories of the encounter. Mediocrity falls by the wayside and being overbearing gives off an "off" vibe. But hiring the right attitude works out well for both employer and employee because we've all heard the buzzword "cultural fit" is ingrained.
