How often do you say: it’s all good, but I don’t have time for this?! One of the questions I asked during the summer fair I participated at the Nine last Friday. And the answers were striking… One woman told me she does it 10-15 times daily. Sometimes, she doesn’t say out loud; she is merely thinking. And she does it for anything related to her wishes. Another woman said she does it so often that it became her standard answer when it is time “to do or buy anything for myself.” The third woman mentioned that her entire family is urging her to do something for herself, and she keeps refusing because of so many work and family responsibilities. Hence, she has no time for herself. It makes them extremely sad. They constantly second-guess if they’re making “the right decision,” feel guilty and ashamed, beat themselves up for their decisions and choices, and feel all the boxes about what they “should do,” “must do,” or “have to do” instead of what they want. They end up feeling like they’re not doing enough. That’s why I’m opening up 5 slots for my “Hustle with Harmony” in June, an 8-week program that supports taking more than a minute for yourself and stepping away from your headless chicken run so you can embrace life with curiosity, connection, and creativity. Memorial Day the unofficial start of summer; which means beach days and beach reads. Every summer I decided to take a break …I means summer vacation has to exist on some level; am I right? So, I pick out 3-6 books to read, complete and implement in my life on some level. I have three categories: management/work , personal growth and summertime sizzle (aka trash reads) I’m starting the summer thinking of work so might as well start with a “work” book. This month read is by Kim Scott’s Radical Candor …a solid read (thus far…I’m only on page 55) with practical easy to implement changes to assist me in becoming the leader I want to be. A colleague asked me to describe my management style in three words. My answer was complicated but fell inline with my general core values which are Compassion, Empathy and Passion. I take that into my management style as well. (Yes…compassion and empathy are two distinct things ) I can be understanding without being a pushover; and I am now in a point of my career that I LOVE what I do; and I want to do not only good no GREAT work but with empathy and compassion. Working with people is a gift and I have the fortune to work with some of the most gifted folks in the business of entertainment television. Let’s remember , we may not be in the same boat, but we are all in the same waters.

One thing you will NOT find us doing at Lottie Summer Events…. I’ve really noticed an increase lately, especially on linkedin, of cold, generic messages from people saying that they would love to work with me, check out their services and their website etc and if that is a method that you find works for your business and helps gets you clients…that’s totally cool but it is NOT something you will ever find us doing here at Lottie Summer events. Why? Because one of the biggest things that I pride myself on is building those meaningful connections with clients and providing that really personal service that completely represents their organisation/goals and is tailored to exactly what their needs are. Honestly, I don’t want to work with just anyone. When I begin working with a new client, there have been meetings, proposals and plenty of conversations back and forth to make sure that we align with each other so that I can truly give them what they need and provide the highest quality of work that I can for them...how can I can be sure that the working relationship would work and I can provide what they need if I am targeting absolutely everyone and don’t really know anything about them?!

What is great about walking 100km in 3 days? Well,Nothing!🤷♂️😬😂 It stops being fun around 15km. It makes you grateful for the simple things: - food, - ⁠shower, - ⁠bed. What drives you forward? Your compelling goal. What makes it enjoyable? Your companions along the way. This was my misogi challenge I chose for this summer and I am curious what I next year will have in store for me. Let's talk about JOB: A job is a task or piece of work, especially one that is paid. Or A paid position of regular employment According to Leslie George - When you take up a job, you take up a responsibility. You can't choose to do it whenever you FEEL like. The reason you are paid is to do the job AS IT SHOULD BE DONE. You don't have to be passionate about it, though it helps, you just have to commit to getting the work done. Taking up a job is making a promise; you have to make good on your promise. Your boss/company isn't living up to expectation? It's not enough reason to not do your job as you should. Always do your part, and leave no room for criticism, especially when the criticism is correct. Until you choose to leave any organization that is not meeting expectations, do your job as best you can. "Exceptional" should be the word that describes whatever you do. You owe it to yourself.
