Therapists, especially interns and pre-licensed professionals, I know you are often advised to develop a theoretical orientation or find your "niche" early in your career. Here's a friendly reminder for anyone who needs to hear it: It's okay not to settle on a single orientation or specialty. Your practice will evolve with you. It's okay to not adopt your professors' or clinical supervisors' style or orientation of practice. Recognizing therapies that don't align with your values isn't a failure—it's a way to refocus your energy on what truly excites and drives you. #mentalhealth #mentalhealththerapy #therapists #clinicalsupervision

Just as good research can happen outside of a research facility, therapy and counselling are moving to spaces which feel more natural (pun intended). "a growing number of therapists are taking their therapy sessions outdoors and, in some cases, training other counselors to do the same. They say that combining traditional talk therapy with nature and movement can help clients feel more open, find new perspectives and express their feelings, all while helping them connect with the outside world." In my experience I have found that when interviewing or spending time with someone in their home / car / farm / studio / etc, it usually leads to a much richer and deeper conversation, which is built on trust and reciprocity. #therapy #counselling #research #qualitativeresearch #ethnography #ethnographicresearch #insights #trust
