I had a wonderful time learning new skills, making new friends, and hearing from different perspectives in the science communications field at this week's Association of Science Communicators annual conference, my first! Here are 3 things that stood out to me: 1) Most of us stumbled into this field by serendipity as I myself did. All of us science communicators can relate to the question we receive often, "You do what?" For me, what has taken the longest - and still requires some work - is to remind myself I belong in this field even though I don't have a traditional science background. 2) The best laid plans may often go awry. No matter how much planning that goes into the release of a report, event production, or responding to a big media moment, it is often the thing you didn't expect which can cause the most stress which leads me to my biggest takeaway below. 3) When the goings get tough, be grateful to be on a highly talented and supportive team. At PhRMA, our public affairs team is the best of the best. But it's not because of any metrics or how we shape our message, it is because we have each others back, and all work together for one common goal: Helping advance medicine for patients. I'm so grateful I was able to attend ASC 2024 Science Talk - especially alongside my colleague from the PhRMA Foundation, Emily Ortman. Cheers to science! #SciComm #Biopharmaceuticals

ALL THINGS ATMP ✅ Recently, ATMP Sweden hosted 12 speakers over 3 days, in a well-executed online conference; the ATMP World Tour 2024 🌍🌎🌏 It covered a wide range of ATMP-related topics, presented by international experts. The recordings from the event are available until the end of this month and you should go check it out, if any of the points below resonate with you: ⭐ It is important to be an ATMP advocate and make a positive impact ⭐ Regulatory systems should be evidence-based and keep up with the speed of innovation ⭐ Access to visible role models in CGT is needed ⭐ Accelerated regulatory approvals are necessary, especially in the rare disease space ⭐ Commercialization of ATMPs is relevant; and keeping ATMPs non-commercial is also important It is evident that the field of ATMP is complex and requires collaboration between a multitude of disciplines to succeed and bring the beneficial therapeutic effects all the way to the patients. Let's keep up the stamina together🚀 #ATMP #cgct #recommendation #collaboration

Pharmacist |Health Policy & Advocacy| 2023 Mandela Washington Fellow🇺🇸| 2023 Chevening Scholar🇬🇧| LSE x LSHTM - MSc Health Policy, Planning & Financing
It looks like #25thSeptember is not just #WorldPharmacistsDay, but a day where I get to reflect on my journey, as unconventional as my path as a Pharmacist may be. Coincidentally, yesterday also marked the end of my course at LSHTM & LSE and all I can say is, what an experience!!! An opportunity I will cherish forever. Looking back, I cannot talk about my journey without mentioning IPSF - International Pharmaceutical Students' Federation's pivotal role, IPSF opened my eyes to the world and all its possibilities. It is therefore, such a great honor, that last month, the #70thGeneralAssembly saw it fit to not only appoint me as an #AdvisoryBoard member for a third term but to also grant me #HonoraryLifeMembership (HLM). HLM status is reserved for individuals that have rendered marked service to the federation but I choose to see it as a responsibility...a responsibility to continue mentoring & hopefully, inspire pharmacy students and young pharmacists through my journey and my story...I strongly believe that it is hard to become what you cannot see, and that is why I view personal stories and experiences as critical transformative tools. A slow but sure way to influence the narrative and drive change. I don't know how my story will unfold from here. What I do know is that I intend to keep showing up. It is the showing up that connects the dots. And it is these dots that make the story. #happyworldpharmacistsday #vivalapharmacie #gogetit #itispossible

Here at #UBuffalo SPPS, the past year has been a time of tremendous and impactful change geared toward improving academic experiences and outcomes. It wouldn’t be hyperbolic to call this one of the most revolutionary periods in our school’s 138-year history! From an overhauled PharmD curriculum and grading structure to exciting new faculty hires to establishing new department divisions, these changes are the result of robust discussions, research and program development that core groups of dedicated SPPS faculty and staff have conducted for more than two years. Each facet of this ongoing transformation is being carefully considered to preserve what has made our pharmacy program one of the best in the nation, while exploring opportunities for meaningful improvement. “This is a program of transformation we’re going through very intentionally,” says Gary Pollack, PhD ’84, dean, SPPS. “On the back end, the school is going to look different than it did when we initiated it, but it’s also going to look the same. It’s going to have the same values, the same culture. It’s just going to be more impactful. And I hope even better at doing what it does.” Read more about the transformational changes that are paving the way for continued success at SPPS: bit.ly/43zTHbP #Pharmacy #PharmaceuticalSciences #PharmacySchool
