What kind of projects will help you stand out as a software developer? None! 😉 #sorrynotsorry If people like your project that much, they are customers. If you can attract customers, you don't need a job! 💡 Stop thinking that your side project has to be noteworthy to get a job 🛑 If it is to sustain you with a salary, that's another matter. Your project, in terms of standing out in the market for a job, is there to demonstrate ability and, more importantly, proactivity about progressing and immersing yourself in your chosen tech stack and/or industry. #sideproject #techcommunity #developercommunity

Full Stack developer in Research Development team at AMDOCS | Completed 20+ Full stack Tools | 3+ years of experience
I remember my first job as a software developer 😊. I was so excited but also super nervous 😬. I had just graduated with a degree in computer science, and suddenly I was in the real world 🌎. My first day was all about getting set up: installing the right software, configuring my development environment, and setting up email and communication tools 📧💻. It was a lot, but my colleagues were really helpful 🤝. The biggest challenge was learning the codebase. It was HUGE! 😵 I read all the documentation, but it was outdated 📚. So, I asked a ton of questions. At first, I was worried about bothering people, but my colleagues were glad I asked 🙋. Better to ask than make big mistakes, right? After a few months, I started to feel more comfortable. Our team had daily stand-ups, where we'd share what we were working on and ask for help if needed 🗣️. I was shy at first, but I realized everyone had challenges, even the experienced devs. By the end of the year, I'd completed several projects and even led a small feature development 🎉. The roadmap for my first year: keep learning 📚, stay curious 🤔, and don't be afraid to ask for help 💪. #placement #guidance #developer #sde #tips

Social entrepreneur & yoga teacher. Co-founder at Careibu, The Nature Collective, Her Berg Foundation and Stichting Senior&Student.
10 reasons why you (don't) want to work at Careibu as a software developer: ❌ A big salary to buy big stuff ❌ Code for 'bullshit' and contribute to the enrichment of a few people ❌ A title like CTO or CPO or C.. ❌ An office on the Zuidas ❌ A manager, founder or other 'boss' who tells you what to do ❌ Make it seem like you always work from 9 to 5 and are super productive ❌ Strictly separate work and private life, you lead a double life ❌ Lunches with a 'broodje kroket' and/or champagne ❌ Wasting your talent by developing something the world doesn't really need ❌ Contributing to profit maximization in the form of money for shareholders ✅ Still an 'above average' income ✅ Code for 'good' and contribute to the enrichment of many people ✅ A title like 'software developer' because that's what you do 🙂 ✅ A green and sustainable office in Amsterdam-Noord ✅ A holacratic team structure in which you tell us what you are going to do ✅ Work when and how long you are productive, we 'just' trust you ✅ At work you are a human being, you do not lead a double life ✅ Healthy, plant-based lunches ✅ Use your talent by developing something that really makes the world better ✅ Contribute to impact maximization in the form of bringing people together

Came back to the South and to reality to say - it’s not so bad down here - and it smells like flowers - and… Every pull request that I raise is a dream come true Every piece of code that I merge is a dream come true Every ticket that my boss writes for me is a dream come true Every comment I receive on my PR is a dream come true (but my last PR had no comments 😈) Being a software engineer is a dream come true Being able to do my job is a dream come true Being able to work is a dream come true Having the opportunity to fulfill and live out all my dreams is a dream come true Just being able to work is a dream come true because not everybody has that privilege Getting paid to write code is a dream come true Getting to work with such lovely colleagues is a dream come true Every ticket I receive. Every pull request I raise. Every pull request I merge. All of it is a dream come true Thank you!!!! #pythondeveloper #softwareengineer

Hello! As a beginner frontend developer, the recent difficulty I faced was testing the code. As a beginner most times when you test the code it responds and sometimes it doesn’t respond. It’s simple but challenging to, using HTML,CSS and JAVASCRIPT makes being a frontend developer easier. How it’s being fixed? I reload the pages if error occurs or if codes become unresponsive.Allow me introduce myself 😉I’m Racheal Okevwe Ebruke, A beginner frontend developer aspiring to do more.Advancing to Backend dev, Data Analyst.https://https://lnkd.in/dQHJhrqj

As a junior software developer I constantly worried I wasn't good enough. I constantly compared myself to others. As a junior software developer I worked for a financial company. It was my first big city job. I was proud of myself. After joining, I worked out my role was open because the previous junior had left. I would always find myself stumbling across the previous juniors work. It was brilliant. I thought they were so much smarter. I wondered why this company had settled for me if they could have that. After a while of feeling like this, I told my boss how I felt, I told them I would work my best to try and fill the void left by the previous junior and that I knew my shortfalls were significant. That day was the first day I can remember experiencing having a leader as my boss and not a manager. All my previous managers had been only that. The memories of the conversation are vivid and help shape who I am today. They told me that they were not looking for a direct replacement. That I bring so many fantastic qualities to the team and when hiring they were looking for a value add to the team as it stands now, not a value replacement to get it back to what it was then. From that moment I felt so much better. We should always be open with how we are feeling and thoughts such as imposter syndrome. Being a junior is a daunting time in a career. There are so many unanswered questions. I encourage you to seek answers to those lingering thoughts that are standing in the way of your progress.

Hey everyone! As a software developer, I stumbled upon this funny photo that sums up this common scenario: 😅 In moments of work stress, my instinct has always been to dive in and keep pushing harder. Anyone else relate? 😉 But amidst the chaos, it's important to find humor. Laughter keeps us going and reminds us not to take ourselves too seriously. So here's to all the software developers out there: may your networks stay stable, your code stay clean, and your sense of humor stay strong, even when things get a little hectic! Let's keep coding and laughing together! 😄💻 #SoftwareDevelopment #HumorInTheTechWorld
