Yesterday, I received a copy of "Everybody Wants to Love Their Job" from the author Marylene Delbourg-Delphis, and it's already impacting my thoughts on leadership and growth. A standout insight so far is: "We are the company we attract." Here’s why this is crucial for all of us leading startups: 🧲Employer Branding Each person we attract is a testament to our brand and values. 🚀 Cultural Impact The traits and values of our hires shape our company culture. To foster innovation and collaboration, we must find, attract, and retain individuals who embody these qualities. While this concept is straightforward, its implementation—especially at speed and amidst directional shifts—is a formidable challenge. 🎯 Strategic Alignment Aligning our team with our long-term goals is essential. What's your personal philosophy towards life and business? I figured something out over the past few weeks that's extremely powerful. My great friend recently asked me, "Why are you building SaaS Talent?" I started explaining all the typical business reasons why someone builds a company, which were related to goals and helping SaaS and tech companies, etc, etc, and the reasons just didn't seem like they had a strong foundation. Then my friend asked me again, "Why are YOU doing this?" I have to say that I couldn't answer the question very well. I couldn't believe that I didn't have a good answer. I realized that I needed a personal philosophy toward life and business. Something that captures the essense of why I'm building SaaS Talent, but also encapsulates why I'm doing EVERYTHING. Pretty deep stuff, right? Here's what I came up with below. Let me know what you think. I call it the "5 P's" 🚀 Prioritize helping people, passionate action and tangible results in the pursuit of living a purposeful life. Over the last month, I was invited to discuss the importance of human connection in the workplace - and how this human connection leads to stronger collaboration, more committed employees and overall more productivity with less stress. Improving and practing communication skills is extremely important - and now more than ever- as we continue to work in hybrid working environments, push through government political disconnect, face extreme inflation costs, continued layoffs, tight budgets, demanding pressure and so many other stressors in our lives. If there is nothing else we all have in common, it’s the fact that we are all human. Given that we are all human we have brains that often make up assumptions and stories that aren’t always the truth, our emotions sometimes get the best of us — and we have to work together.
