Place-based impact investing (PBII) is all about backing communities directly, focusing on specific places to create real, measurable change. It's not just about profits; it’s about purpose—like building affordable housing or enhancing local healthcare. Investors are working hand-in-hand with councils, local groups, and community leaders to ensure investments align with what matters most to each area. It's great to see this growth in investment products targeting positive local outcomes. Read more on Pioneers Post: https://lnkd.in/enGV7mHz

Wealthy individuals, family offices, and foundations continue to be the driving force in impact investing as institutions face 'steeper than expected' learning curve on impact investing, shares AsianInvestor. Despite impact funds now regularly raising $1 billion-plus and giant asset owners like Dutch pension giant ABP targeting huge impact portfolios, in general, institutional investors continue to face a steep learning curve. Investing with impact has evolved. Tension >> Coexistence >> Collinearity. While impact and for-profit investing were once perceived to be at tension, the prevailing viewpoint now recognizes that positive impact and financial returns can indeed strike a balance. It’s widely accepted that impact investing is not inherently concessionary. Great. But... What if *from a pure investment standpoint* we could do better than “not concessionary”? What has come into view for us at Uplifting Capital is a compelling subset of impact investments where the positive impact is actually a key driver of financial performance. In other words, impact as alpha. This impact alpha has been our narrow focus from the start. As we look ahead to what’s next, we’re excited that the impact investment landscape has evolved to a point that impact alpha is now available in asset classes along a broad continuum of risk-return expectations in the private markets. Fiduciaries can move from impact investment picking to true portfolio construction for the families and institutions they serve. It's nice time to be an investor who cares...about people, planet, and pocket book. Many thanks to Tobias Salinger and Financial Planning for helping us and others mentioned shine a light on the opportunity.
